QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

Miller deserves some props for both TD throws. One was a fairly long pass and on target to a WR who has his man beaten. Without naming names, I can think of a few QBs over the years who had even odds of overthrowing that ball. The other toss was placed only where his receiver could catch it. Not five yards out of bounds, not in the third row of the stands, but a catchable ball.

He didn't complete (or attempt) a ton of passes, but he did read and recognize open receivers in the end zone which counts for something. Six points, actually. If all he does is throw touchdowns, I can live with that.

He did a vastly better job of holding on to the ball this week than he has to date, and zero turnovers is always a QBs best stat. Clearly he's been working on that. Hopefully this week he'll be working on his release a little and tighten the spiral on his throws. As Jwins mentioned, he's capable of throwing a solid ball, so whether that was nerves or his grip, it's something that can be worked out.

Overall, I'd say it was a good first start. Take away his two TD throws and this is an uncomfortably close game, so he made a difference and produced. I feel a lot better about the MSU game.

I hope so because there were a few times I was yelling at the TV for him to tuck the ball.

When Miller has Posey on the outside with Smith(who he has a connection with) the field will open up big. Teams have been doubling Stoney due to the td potential he has shown and they won't be able to do that anymore. Then throw in Philly and Chris fields and things are looking good.

Don't forget Dan Herron - not just carrying the ball, but in pass protection too.

I have a feeling we will be seeing Hall at a receiver spot when Boom gets back as well.

Or a 2 back shotgun formation with read option/ read option pass. Think about Herron or Hall on the dive with Miller running the option out of it with the other. Then the pass options that you can already see them doing where he starts like a run then steps back to hit an open WR.

It will be interesting to see what kind of gameplan the coaches come up with against MSU on both sides of the ball. This is going to be a step up in competition and Cousins will be the best QB we will have faced to date, though their OL has incurred injuries resulting in losing three starters.

I think that we should be able to run the ball against the Spartan's but we are going to have to be successful passing the ball as well. Miller's demeanor is impressive and will help in close games. Nothing seems to rattle him. His running ability gives us the advantage in passing downs because Sparty is going to have to account for him and will get burned if the defenders turn their back to him.

Here's hoping he gets lot's of reps throwing the ball this week. Getting a solid win in our opening Big Ten game will go a long way in building everyone's confidence.
