QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

You bring up a great point. Maybe my frustration from this past weekend is directly tied to this idea. Stale offensive playcalling has been an issue for a long time, but maybe I thought it would change with a new head coach. I guess I expected Fickell to do his own thing and give us a fresher offense to watch. Last week was patented Bollman......

please tell me it is not actually patented...I think he is inspired in his schemes by watching paint dry. :)

TP never had the Stan Drayton influenced packages. Braxton has operated a lot of "Florida" plays this off-season with Jordan Hall playing Percy Harvin.

Hence the reason Braxton has been so limited without Hall in the line-up.

Do we know this as fact? If so it sounds exciting!

Anyone have an guestimate on how many snaps BM gets this Saturday?

It depends on how the possessions go. I think he'll get four possessions, since I'm buying into the "no Hall, and dinged in practice" theory. If those go three and out, then obviously he doesn't get more than a dozen snaps. If they turn into 10 play drives, he obviously gets more, so I'm going with possessions.

I also think we win by 10-12. People aren't giving Toledo enough credit for a solid game plan and execution. Miami is not fundamentally sound, and unlike Toledo, *will* turn the ball over several times.

Hope you're right about #5 (calling him BM seems wrong-also, those are my initials). I'd like to see him go into his Pat White mode with all of that Florida speed-Fuck you, Tim Brandt.

Good call on Miami vs Toledo in the fundamentals department. Toledo is a much more stable program than the U at the moment, and are well coached. There's no way Miami's coaches know their own team as well as Toledo's, and I highly doubt they know as much about the Buckeyes as Toledo does. I also expect a ton of penalties from the 'Canes.

I don't think he's deferring anything. He's a defensive coach. He has nothing at all to do with calling offensive plays.

As head coach he can call whatever he wants. If he's letting assistants make calls, he's deferring to them.

I liked what I saw from Braxton at the end of the game. I know he turned the ball over, but I still see a lot of potential.

Absolutely. I hope that tonight showed the coaches once and for all that you're not going to win against solid teams without a play maker at QB. I'm sure Braxton will make some mistakes...Braxton is that guy. This will obviously be a rebuilding year for the Bucks. It starts with Braxton.

with all do respect. I did not like what i saw. I think he looked like a deer in the headlights. I think he is CLOSE to being what WE want. But what i saw tonight didnt make me happy. Gotta get him a WHOLE game to get some rhythm, but thats me.

I'd like to see him get a whole week of practicing with the first team.

He needs to be made the full-time starter. Live and die with him, get him some experience. Even the last 3 seasons we relied so much on our QB running for first downs on broken down pass plays. You just need to have that element from your quarterback. Let him know, let the team know, let Joe B know, let the fans know that it's his team for the rest of the season. JoeB can tell jokes on the sideline for the rest of year while not playing, rather than during the 4th quarter of a game where the team is down 11 points.
