QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

I'm gonna get messed with today. Its pretty bad when Seminole, Tennessee, Auburn, and Bama fans talk smack about your program being dirty. He knows the NCAA still has a microscope on us. How ******* STUPID CAN YOU BE. I'm in shock...

I would think all this would have to go thought the SID, so I don't think you can put the onus on Smith?

This is frustrating, but I don't see how anyone could blame Smith solely. I will grant you, Smith will be the one paying the price, but I can't see just blaming him.

I remember an interview that Majerus did after that on Herbie's show, he used the analogy for the NCAA being something akin to the health dept coming into your restaurant and telling you that there is a flea in your pepper shaker. I thought that was one of the best analogies ever.

EDIT: And to think that people were booing Justin Zwick at the spring game. That makes me absolutely sick. This kid has done nothing but play his guts out for Ohio State and do what he can to try and make us fans proud. I hope Zwick or Boekman plays every down this season, and whatever the record is we should be proud of it, because it's obvious that Troy Smith doesn't care about the team.

A-freakin'-men! It appears as though Smith has screwed up again, not the coaching staff, and not Zwick. Either A) he doesn't care about anyone but Troy, or B) he's stupid.

And by the way, to count us out against Texas just because Smith may not be there is extremely pessimistic and short-sighted. Last I checked, Holmes, Ginn, Haw, Pittman, Zwick, Hawk, and the rest of the team weren't facing suspension. We can beat TX without him, I don't doubt that for a second.

I'm not giving up on Troy or the NCAA realizing that this was a charitable event and not only did Troy miss his 20% or two games, but he also missed a bowl game and trip.

That being said, this may be a blessing in disguise. There is nothing worse than the tandum quarterback system. It works well against average or weak teams but against top tier teams it is a liability. Quarterbacks need to get in the flow of a game and stay there.

Here's hoping everything works out for the best.

So assuming he got the professors promission to make up his work is it still a violation?

Charity Event I can't find myself that upset.... i'd rather have a player sitting out then injuried I guess, i've yet to give up on TSmith. I wouldn't be completely suprised to see him leave this all behind him without any suspension, although won't be shocked either way. The comments about him being dumb and stuff for this though... what is this the WF boards?

I simply do not understand a lot of your reactions. I would be willing to bet a lot of money that Troy obtained permission from somebody to attend this camp, and that he had absolutely no idea he was breaking any type of rule. At this point, we don't even know if he missed a class....likely he did, but still, how is this his fault? If I am an athlete at OSU, and I am asked to go participate, AS A VOLUNTEER, at a camp, and I obtain the approval from the appropriate authority, you're damn skippy I would go. Those of you who think Troy is some selfish bastard because of this little thing are crazy. Seriously, give me a break.

If this was something where he just took off and did it on his own, then I could maybe see your point...but I guarantee that is not the case. No Division 1A QB goes to some random camp without first consulting with his coach.

Let me get this straight...... A college kid is trying to do a charitable thing and be a counselor at a football camp and now he's in trouble for it because he missed a class because of it? Man, this sucks......

I'm pretty sure the taxpayers aren't paying for Smith's education so he can miss classes on a whim.

Perfectly said.

Everyone is flying off the handle to bash TS again. I attended TOSU, and I misted, cut, skipped plenty of classes. However, never was it to do a charitable act. Everyone needs to calm down.

Miami, Ohio, can't come soon enough.
