QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

I'm fine with that decision on Smith. The guidelines indicated 20% of a season, which is close to 2 games. For tOSU to argue that the bowl preparation/game was equivalent to 2 games seemed like a reach to me. And for Smith to get less than 2 games would have opened us up to criticism about manipulating the system to get him to play as much as possible regardless of what he did, which is just more crap that we don't need to hear.

Glad to hear the good news about Maupin.

EJ seems to be a living teatament to the saying: Youth is wated on the young"

If only he knew how many kids would kill to have had just a little more athletic ability and been given the chance that he was given - maybe he would appreciate it more.
I'm not trying to jump on you, but I don't feel that this is necessarily a fair statement. I feel confident saying that none of know his entire story, so we don't really know what he may be going through right now.

You may be right. He may be living the high life and slacking on schoolwork, but we just don't know the whole story. (at least I don't)

We would not have wanted a lighter sentence. I think this is fair, and I think Troy Smith will regain the starting role if indeed he is the leader he seemed to be and if Zwick returns to being the early season Zwick.

Smith Case Resolved

Troy Smith's eligibility restored after the Miami game provided he makes restitution for the money he took from the booster. Maupin is back on the team and will participate in Spring drills. EJ Underwood out for the spring while he deals with what coach says are classroom issues. Brandon Underwood joins Jordan, Kerr, Kudla, Lyons, Schlegel, Skinner, Everett and D'Andrea who will have limited or no contact this spring.
