QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Why? Becuase I feel people should be held responsible for their actions?

I feel like they should too.

But that doesn't mean that the ramifications of saying who might have done this are in the best interests of the University.

What are the negative ramifications of revealing the identity of the booster(s) who have been giving improper benefits? Unless one of them is a relative of Tressel's or Geiger's, I see this only as a positive. No one, who is supposedly a fan, wants to be known as the person(s) who are a big reason why this university has a black eye right now. Release one or a few names and the problem will begin to go away.

Sure it will...just ask Bobby Delmutti about the ramifications or the guy who owns the car lot where MoC got the Monte Carlo.

Goof can get more specific, but I have read about the hell Delmutti has endured

So the boosters should get off scot free huh? No public scrutiny? MoC has had, and will endure more than we can all imagine and I don't see us crying for him, and I won't cry for him. Release the names, and create deterrence. It seems to me as if Andy wants to protect these people. No suprise there. He's always cared more about the big money boosters than average alumni, other fans, or even students.

You are some real cowboys...but to each his own I guess.

How would releasing the names work as a deterrent? Demutti's name was released and he has gone through hell...did that stop this latest incident? There is always another in line just waiting to be close to the program.

I tell ya what, let's have a public stoning...if you guys are willing to open the University up to lawsuits, we might as well do it right

Please enlighten me (us, whomever) as to how this could open up the university for lawsuits?
Also, tell me how after 4 or 5 guys get dragged through the mud, its not going to be a deterrent.

Did you read AG's quote? I'd say he agrees with the lawsuits friend.

4 or 5 guys? Hell its happened to hundreds of guys all over the nation yet the culture still exists. You argue as if this is a roach problem and we can spray these guys and they will go away. This is an embedded culture woven into the fabric of collegiate sports...knock one down and five more step forward.

Your vigilence is admirable but IMHO misguided. No offense intended and you are entitled to that opinion. We'll have to agree to disagree.

Good discussion.
