QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Jumper

Well, Alan, you seem to know much more than I so I cannot fully agree until I hear the details. But I gotta say that even I am beginning to feel the same way. I am sick and tired of the insinuations and innuendo. I am sick of these tales. If this is about money or gifts, and that is what you appear to be asserting, then how could anyone be so stupid? So selfish? It demeans the young athletes on all OSU teams. It demeans the degrees the University bestows. This is getting to the point that it can go no further.
we've got a jumper...

This is one of those issues we need to wait and see. With all of the off the field issues going on right now I find it difficult to see why AG and JT would want to reinstate him so quickly if it was not a HUGE violation if there is such a thing.

I played D1 athletics and have been through many NCAA rules meetings and know that there are a lot of possible infracitons there. My guess is JT has folks out on campus now because of the recent focus the the NCAA and they saw Troy doing things that were not totally cosher and he got busted for it.

I am just glad it seems he got "busted" before it turned into a MAJOR infraction and it sounds like he has a good chance of being reinstated.

Maybe some of you need to go back and skim thru the first few pages of this tread....

and find where Alan said, this is NOT a grades issue.
First of all, I do not believe that this is a grades issue either. But, certainly not because Alan said so. What has Alan said that makes you think that he knows exactly what Troy did? I believe that CleveBucks knows the deal, but I also respect that he can't say what the deal is.
Ahhhh, the magic of message boards. You can change your name and become a totally different person. CleveBucks has always been CleveBucks and his information has always been accurate, and insightful. Dihard used to curse out half of the posters on this board, including moderators...changes name to Alan, and suddenly is the "bottom line" when it comes to info. I have nothng against Dihard/Alan, but has he said that he knows exactly what is going on? I do know that Dihard wanted Troy off of the team (I think his words were something like "I wish he would do us all a favor and transfer") back when Troy was complaining about lack of playing time.

Buster, it wasnt just Alan, it was 610 wtvn, it was Goofy, some other random posters,
and it was Geiger saying that he had to petition the NCAA (you dont do that for grades).
Also, if it were grades, he would be eligible until the start of the WI '05.
Just like half of our Outback Bowl team in 2000.

Like I said in the beginning of my post. I do not believe it is a grades issue. I was simply responding to the fact that you were telling others that they shouldn't be discussing academics because "Alan said it was not"

So, how do we help get the positive message to the TEAM and coaches that we're 100% behind them against OklaSt?

Anyone have an email address for us to show support...one that would get to the staff and players?

After all the ventilating, Smith has been past tense now for hours. Time to pick up the sticks and head out with a new plan, newer team and a large dollop of confidence. We still have a host of great players. If Zwick has recovered physically, he can be formidable...especially behind a greatly improved OL.

For what it's worth.....

A poster on the BN premium board claims to have inside info that Troy gave his game jersey to a booster who sold it and kicked the money back to him. Don't know if he's credible, he hasn't posted much, but of all the theories I've heard so far, it seems the most plausible.

If nothing else, that is the first rumor that finally has some specifics...sounds plausable, but who knows.
