QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

I've seen lots of people complaining about what Troy Smith said. I'm surprised that people don't understand where Troy is coming from. These players are loyal to their coaches, not the institutions -- and why shouldn't they be?

I guess I never realized he was that disenfranchised with the program. I've been under a rock all of this time. I like with MC had to say about JT though, both of them really.

Yeah, same here. Kinda sad.

Troy Smith said: "There's no doubt he was wronged. I don't know how many college coaches would jump on the sword for somebody else's kids, like he did. Obviously, it wasn't just a recruiting tool when I came to Ohio State because he did it for hundreds of other kids. The only thing I feel emotions about is Coach Tressel. Without Jim Tressel, I wouldn't have had a chance to play quarterback in the Big Ten. As far as the other stuff, I don't get emotional about it. Ohio State will be here for a long time after I'm gone, know what I mean?

Football coaches have huge impacts on players lives. Although the coaches make lots of money (while the players do not), they do at least care about their players. Most of the university officials care more about the players winning games to promote the school and fund non-revenue generating sports than they care about the well-being of the players.

To tell you the truth, it had nothing to do with a $500 thing between myself and a booster," Smith said. "I took the rap for a lot of people so a lot of people wouldn't get in trouble. But that story can't be told unless I want to get back at a lot of people. I'm not that type of guy. Never will.
You know what that makes tOSU??? Not one whit worse (or different) than any other major program in America. Before the NCAA colonoscopy scope got shoved up tOSU's rear I used to say that y'all were no better than other major programs relating to boosters and benefits and such. Now, after Tat-gate, Tressel-gate, Pay-gate and even the forever mysterious "Troy taking the rap for a bunch of other people-gate", I can honestly say that.............

......y'all are not one whit worse (or different) than any other major football program in America, and anyone who says that you are worse than their program (if similarly rectally examined by the NCAA) are naive fans blinded by their homerism.

This includes my alma mater. Hang in there guys.

Didn't you mean to post that here?

Hard for some to accept, even harder for others to let go.

You are not taking the rap for a lot of other people unless you yourself are not at all guilty. If you are one of 20 people doing something illicit, and you are the only one to gets caught, that stings, but you suck it up and do your time (two whole games, 6 years ago!!). That's the unwritten code of any group doing something against the rules.

To imply that he wasn't the only one, while probably true, smacks of being petty at this point. Get over it.

I just wonder if Troy will feel differently once #10 is retired and he takes his (rightful) place in our ring of honor...

Always was and always will be a fan of his - it's just a bummer to learn he holds a grudge for how some things went down at tOSU...

I feel this way too.

Whenever someone leaves an organization, one of the things that reflects poorly on themselves is having sour grapes and being vocal about it. When you are vague, blame others, and appear bitter it is equally as negative on you.

Hate to see it. I was proud to have witnissed his Heisman trophy season and complete domination of that school up North.
