QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Now I don't really agree with this assumption. Both Smith and Zwick don't go through progressions.... Difference is this Zwick would force it, and Smith runs it. So it kinda self negates itself. Zwick couldn't go through 2 progressions let alone 3 so I'm not sure about that. Both Qb's have their style when their number 1 reciever isn't open so it really self cancels out.

Nope...Smith does not go through a full progression. He rarely steps UP in the pocket, but instead breaks contain and sends the receivers into scramble drill. If Smith went through his progression, we would see many more deep balls on the fly or posts that open late.

How many times in that game did it seems like TS was going to throw the damn ball, then thought about it and tucked it or got sacked?

That is the problem, and seems to be the problem with our system, the QBs are scared to death to make a mistake...

I know at least when I play(ed), if I thought about something, I would usually fuck it up, you have to just do it and not think about it...

Oh well, I don't see that changing any time soon.

martins nailed it...as usual....

smith reads option one....then tucks and runs....

zwick could check down as far as 3 ,while he was playing, before running.....

I agree. I think if Smith would throw more instead of running the running game opens up. With knowing this is Smith's tendency just keep the defense stacked to stop the run.

Yeah Zwick most likely though would fit the system better..... Smith if he could improve on trying to stay back alittle more would be a very good QB.
He has the tools for sure. Both of the QBs have many tendancies they need to break or a kid named Boeckman may steal the spotlight next year

who are the two best players on this offense???

NO doubt about it guys..... we need a offensive Coordinator or we won't make it to where we wanna be next year thats for sure. Well maybe when Lyons gets some more reps he'll be a Edwards type of player. We have too many short quick guys in my mind. We lack the big type of reciever than can go up in traffic and pull it down. Because of people like Williams from USC, and Edwards from Michigan Qb's are able to just lob it up sometimes and get lucky. Now of course Ginn/Holmes is pretty nasty we just need a possesion type of reciever to get into the mold.Conservative is an understatement.

lol I caught myself many times thinking of the possibilties of Smith Slashing through defenses. While he's fairly decent on the ground teams know what to expect, and don't fall for it....

It is becoming more probable IMO about Boeckman.

Understatement of the day goes to Dihard!

I felt at the beginning of the year that JZ was very good at going through the progressions. I haven't felt that way about TS at all. I see TS lock onto the primary receiver and that is it. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see both play against scUM. Let TS start and have a few series and then let JZ come in and have a few series.

Todd Boekman is the best QB on the roster right now according to those who have seen him in practice.

He is a coach's kid and he knows the game. Great athlete with a great arm.

Zwick's mechanics have gone to shit because he's scared back there because the O line couldn't block the Little Giants.

Smith is so scared to make a mistake that he tucks if the primary reciever is covered.

Boekman will be starting come opening day next season.
