QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Yeah i know u cant throw a QB out there in a spread in the middel of a game. I know it has to be coached. I know that OSU is a run team. I know that we have no run game (wait till a hard team). I know JT doesnt trust TS. Some things have to be taught and others learned. Everyone remember when there was no run game (begining of the season). How many of you wanted them to pass it a lot more? For OSU to surprise a good D is to pass on run plays and pass it deep. I know it wont work perfectly till the O-line gets in shape. To win in todays game you have to have the ability to make the big play on one play.

That still does not equate to what you are referring to as a spread offense. The spread refers to one back or no backs with any number of eligible receiver formations (Trips, double slot, double twins, stack trips, bunch trips, etc)

I agree with what you are saying about passing , but tOSU can accomplish the same thing with their current offensive scheme. It all lies in the OL though, if the QB has pressure coming as soon as he hits his fifth drop step, no play or formation will be effective.

Yeah, but im saying showing a team a 4 wide set on 2nd and 1 isnt what they will expect from OSU.
:slappy: hold on there slick. i was actually starting to think you just didnt understand what the spread offense was.....but this beauty?

they wont expect us to kick a field goal on our own 20 either. should we do that?

Ummmm bro this year's offense has tried everything you have recommended...

Even the spread, Fun & Gun, Run and Shoot or whatever variation you wish to call it, relies on running the ball successfully. That starts up front

One difference between kicking it on our 20 and going spread, we will get points from our drive. :slappy:

I guess ur right but those havent really been with TS. I do admit that he des need experience, so it might not be a good time. I thought that they usually ran that stuff with Zwick cuz thats what he did in high school.

Perhaps that was the difference in practice none of were privileged to see yet speculated upon so much. The offensive scheme the Bucks are running now is not the one I would guess was planned over the summer...

actually....ive done a study on teams like florida who run the spread offense. you see, the study consisted of me watching a game. i did this with a big screen TV, but you can conduct this same experiment at home. GET YOUR PARENTS PERMISSION FIRST.

the first thing i noticed was that these teams have punters on their roster. i was stunned. why waste a schollie on a punter when you run a spread offense? so i decided to actually watch a game. amazingly....they didnt score on every down. i didnt get it. they ran the spread offense, but they punted. in fact, they actually had a 3 and out a few times. it was fucked up.

Uuuummmm

Yeah. Wasn't this thread supposed to be representative of Troy Smith in the next game? The title suggests it, but I've yet to see any actual info/ideas expressed as to what fans might expect (in reality, anyway).

I think he's going to run the offense.

If I were to guess the script of the first 10 plays (not formations... God and Tressel only know how they're going to try and line up) or guess at it... Uhh. Nevermind that should be another thread.

There wasn't much variety, but you must have missed the last game where we lined up in that superwide 4 wr set. I agree we should try it some, but the spread offense is the reason we didn't score on a crucial possession (where we still had some momentum) against Wisconsin (we went spread on 3rd and 1). So we should mix it up some, but mostly the best will be to run a number of plays out of the same formation (maybe 2-3 wrs) so that they have to start committing to Smith and lose a defender in the process.
