Troy Smith in the next game.

As we saw in the scUM vs. MSU game, MSU brought the pressure early and hard. If they do that this week and Smith can make plays on it by scrambling I think JT will have more trust in Smith. The offense hasn't really been that spread out as I (and other would like to see it). I dot know that we had a lead early agains Penn ans we were playing consertive but only 8 passes. I think we should spread it out and attack their DB's. Then do some draws with the HB or option it to the outside. Anyone got anything else to say?

MSU is supposedly strong up the middle but not that fast up front. Pittman could be a good weapon if we can bounce him outside - which could also set up Smith for some runs up the middle.

Sounds like Pittman won't see much playing time Saturday...

"I would say that Mo (Hall) and Branden Joe<!--Default NodeId For Branden Joe is 1209224,2004-->, who I think got a lot of work last week, will continue," Tressel said. "Lydell (Ross) certainly has done a good job this week in practice, and Tony (Pittman) and Brandon Schnittker<!--Default NodeId For Brandon Schnittker is 1222456,2004--> will play a little bit in the backfield."

It seems that Mr. Pittman was late to a meeting and his penalty will be reduced PT...

"Punctuality is important, let me answer it that way," he said.

An effective Spread offense needs:

--a mobile O-line which can adapt quickly to different front looks and stunts
--a QB who is proficient at reading the pre-snap defense
--a QB who is proficient at making the proper audilbles when the combination
of patterns do not attack the defense in an effective manner
--receivers who can read the defense and adjust their routes according to
the coverage as taught to do in weekly meetings
--a coach willing to trust his QB and OL to make the proper decision

Which of these would you like to argue that tOSU possesses?

I like a conservative offense, however I do wish we could execute it better by blocking and running the ball more effectively.

Yeah...I just want 5 big freakin hawgs right up front just kicking the crap out of opposing D-lines. I hope Ohio State can eventually find an O-Line that can do this. Tressel has had one great running back to work with...and he led the team to a national championship...I think once we find a steady running game again, Tresselball is going to take off. I like the young players and recruits. I also like Pittman. I think these players are going to show everyone they are the real deal in the next few years. Or we could always just do bubble screens to Teddy Ginn Jr. every play :):):)

Dude, seriously, you need to stop starting threads. While you may have good intentions, your football knowledge isn't quite up to snuff. Ohio State never has, and never will, run a spread offense. They may run a few plays out of a spread formation, but that is entirely different. I very highly doubt there are that many "others" out there like you that wish for a spread O. Some advice: read this board for awhile. Reply if you can't contain yourself. But until you're a little more educated as to the posters on this board, the attitude of the board itself, and college football in general (especially tOSU Buckeyes), try not to start anymore ridiculous posts.

Ummm... Yeah... Anyway... Let's just say that "Opening up The Offense" and Spread Offense aren't the same thing.

But to me Spread equals Pussy way to score lots of points on mediocre defenses and sell your defense out... so you can give up the big plays at the end of the.

Much like Option is the mans way to score lots of points on mediocre defenses and not sell your defense out but not make big plays at the end.

Answer, you need to be able to both kick them in the teeth and beat them down the field. (Btw, scrambling and draws aren't a running game...)

Yeah i know OSU hasnt run a spread offence but with our running game do we have a choice? Our back have gotten yards against teams with not so good D's. You can say Penn was good but they got tired cuz they were always out there. Another thing when has OSU had as many good wide recievers as they do now. Wait till our line faces a good D. when you force the D to put more DB's on the field they have to blitz to get pressure for the most part of the game. + with smith he can look see nobody and get some yards.
