QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

I'm not sure that I would say Troy played lights out today, but he certainly played well enough to win - and that’s all we need. I also say that if it ain't broke don't fix it and therefore Troy should start next week regardless of Zwicks status. However, I will point out that after two 3 and outs and a QB fumble we were up 14-0 at home - that certainly helps a young QB. I'll also point out that our O-line seems to have turned a corner (or Mo Hall has become a very solid back) either way, we were able to move the ball against a solid D, and I personally now have at least a glimmer of hope that this team can win out. Go Bucks!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I'm happy for TS and the TEAM for the win.

Score: Buckeye Offense: 7 ; Buckeye D & ST: 14

PSU Offense: 10

The best thing beyond our win was TS taking many more snaps against a fairly good D.

Our defensive secondary was playing much closer most of this game. Wish we could've seen that in the 3 losses.

MSU can be beat, but they are outplaying the weasels going in the 4th. The replacement QB for starting MSU QB is doing a super job. MSU's speed puts them ahead 27-10 over weasels as I type. And game is at the weasel sewer.

I would let Tressel and staff fingure out who's gonna start at each position. Next week it's Troy again...and I'm hoping he has his best game yet!

What game did I miss? A three game losing streak due largely to a completely ineffective offense. Four years in the bottom half of the Big Ten in total offense. Have we been so conditioned that we now call a game in which we have 59 yards passing and 202 yards total offense something to get excited about?

Come on folks. Let's raise those expectations. This was PSUs FIFTH STRAIGHT BIG TEN LOSS. Their 12th in the last 13 Big Ten games. And it was at our house. We lose to Purdue, MSU or Michigan with the game we played today.
I tend to agree, but in comparison to what Zwick has done I will take 6/8, no ints and a W any day of the week.

Keep in mind Krenzel only had 7 completions on 21 attempts against Miami.

Stats don't say everything.

Much like with Krenzel in that game, he did the things we needed him to in order to win. Without a few holding calls, the score would have been 31-10.

Smith still has much to prove, but there is no doubt that he has not had breakdowns like zwick has had during this season.

I thought Smith was ok today. I wish we had thrown the ball deep at least once though. I would have helped our passing game. I think next week will show a lot if Smith can play this good 3 weeks in a row 2 against good teams we may have the QB for the future and present.

Agreed that stats don't mean everything.. but this was Penn State, without a BigTen win.. not Miami.

Agreed, but as you saw today, Penn States problem isnt its defense.
Not sure if anyone else has said this, but JT MUST take the noose off of the offense, they looked like fools with some of the play calls.

I disagree. Jim Tressel's job is to put together a gameplan which will result in a win. After the quick 14 points, he did what he does best. Which is not give up the lead.

OK I'm bak and Lloydsev you completely contradicted yourself by saying you Disagree because we had a 14-0 lead. You have tried to point out that it was the offenses fault for not making plays and moving that chains rather than the coaches play calling? I thought Smith played very well for his first TRUE start! also Indiana beat Minneasota so that says alot considering Minny just about beat Michigan. Maybe he/the offense just played very well last week instead of us completely beat'n up on a inferior opponent? also someone pointed out that 6-8 with no Int's and a Win is completely fine in my book also! especially if the QB can make it happen with his legs!

Amen. When completing a robust 6 out of 8 passes in an entire game means the QB played lights out people have to realize their expectations on offense are way, way too low. Sure you take a win any day of the week but towing that old line is becoming, well, frankly, old.

Oh, so you mean play like were scared to death.
A shovel pass on 3rd and 21?
Only using what has proven to be an effective reverse play once?
Only throwing the ball 8 times?
Running a total of 6 plays for 12 yards the ENTIRE first quarter?
Gaining a massive 202 yards of total offense?
Come on now, raise your expecations.
That is just pathetic.
