First of all, anyone who thought our offense was going to be anything but Jesse Helms conservative, after opening up a 14-0 lead, needs to have their head examined. When we went up , I said to myself, "self, we're going to run the ball 50 times today if our defense holds their offense". Well,we only ran 44 times, but had the 2nd most rush yards against PSU that anyone has had this year . Only Minnesota had more. They indeed have a very good defense so I was more than happy with 144 yards. Who the heck likes to pass only 8 times ? Not I , but unlike some dickweeds at BN, I'll never complain about a win.
My only criticism with Troy is that he should go down earlier on runs. He fights for extra yardage and alot of times that will result in a fumble of an injury. I'd prefer he hit the ground rather than fight for that extra yard or 2, unles it's the first down mark.
I watched the pregame of the OK-OK St. game and they were showing hilight of the leading rushers and EVERY hilight was a run outside the tackles. It just burns my balls when we run EVERY f'n play between the tackles. Please try to incorporate some runs outside the tackles, huh, coach?
The only play you need to see that shows TS is better than JZ is that out pass to Holmes in the 4th. It had zip and was on the button. The ball Ginn dropped was a good (not great) throw that would have made big yards had he caught it. The pass where he was going to run and stopped was impressive as well. You can see the defense plays differerent when TS is behind center. The fumble was his fault because he had plenty of time to get rid of it.
The o-line seemed to ply ok today. The 2 bad plays that stand out were when Datish was too slow picking up the outside rusher, and someone on the right end that missed their man that brought Pittman down for a 3 yard loss. Rehring seems to play with some fire.
Stop the penalties please.
Don't let the punt get by you. That 72 yarder hurt. The one fumble was bogus. I can understand slow whistles, but that was way too slow.
