QB Tathan Martell (transfer to Miami, transfer to UNLV)

Tates a competitor everyone knows that for sure. As long as the competition is fair and open I don't see Fields coming here as an automatic transfer reason for any of them.

I just hope Day is an open minded coach that really stresses consistency and allows/ demands constant improvement through competition and rewards it.

Tate has 0 starts. Just like Justin will if he comes here.

I don't think Fields is too worried about Tate and maybe he is wrong but I really think he is going to come here.

With this 100%. I really don't think Tate is afraid of Fields and Fields is not afraid of Tate honestly. It is all premature though and I would prefer to hold off on my own speculation until Fields to OSU actually happens, because that will be a battle in itself. That being said, even if Fields does come here, I find it hard to believe he gets a waiver to play right away even with his top notch lawyer. If Fields has to sit a year, then Tate is definitely not going anywhere because he will be our starter next year.

Or maybe Dwayne stays and then Fields takes over?

Tate is fiery. He’s a competitor. He seems to have worked hard by all accounts.

But at the end of the day he is largely an unproven talent. If I’m Day, I am pretty damn worried about the depth of my QB room. Is he the front runner at this point? Yeah sure. By default.

He could be a future Heisman and NC winner but he has to earn it and not just be the defacto replacement. That is true regardless of who is coming in.

He needs to worry about what he can control and lay off the Twitter warrior crap. He’s got to prove a whole lot on and off the field.

Just because you’ve turned 16 doesn’t mean you get the keys to the Porsche.
