QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

I forget at times how dumb the average sports fan is when I leave this board. My boss who's also a Buckeye fan tried to tell me that McCord is the worst OSU QB in history and that OSU isn't an NC caliber team with him. I asked him if he watched Stetson Bennet win 2 NCs and also JJ McCarthy, 2 QBs who I don't think are as talented as McCord. He said McCord should be playing in the MAC at best. At that point I just end the convo and walk back to my desk. You can't help stupid. That's why I talk little to many fans IRL, because most have no clue what the A back or 9 route is

How old is your boss. Did he not live through the Steve Bellisari years? Too many people have recency bias with their hot takes. They forget there was a time before Dwayne Haskins. Yes, in the Ryan Day era McCord would be at the bottom.

Here is a look at a few QBs and their first year stats with significant playing time. I will admit that all of these QBs played in different systems which would effect their stats. I did not add JT Barret and Braxton Miller because they were more running backs that would throw the ball on occasion. Take in to accord that McCord still has 3-5 games left to play.

He’s early 50s, so he should have known that here have been far worse QBs. But like you said, recency bias affects many fans. I’m sure he was also the type of fan who wanted JT Barrett and CJ Stroud benched as well…
But I’ll enjoy showing this list to him. And I’m sure he’ll still make an asinine comment stating that stats don’t mean anything:bonk:

It’s almost like he doesn’t perform at a high level until he‘s faced with some adversity. Needs to put his game face on from the first to the last snap in the next one.
