QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

Tristan Gebbia could start the first three games and it would not make a difference. Unless IU can somehow make a game of the contest this Saturday McCord/Brown could well flip-flop ahead of YSU next week. The only significance is that one of them gets credited in the W/L & GS columns.

Ryan Day has three more weeks to figure out who "the guy" is before boarding the bus for South Bend.

McCord being more of a manager & distributor/good decision maker might actually benefit this team. If the OL is struggling it will be all about getting the ball out quick and smartly. Just get the ball into the hands of the playmakers we have and let them do their thing. Teams will eventually have to tone down the heat after getting burnt by a bunch of quick throws which would open up the kill shots more.

Yep. With the weapons on this team I don't want the QB trying to be another weapon. I want him to get the ball securely to those weapons so they can ball out or live to punt and play Defense with a, hopefully, improved defensive team. Definitely get Brown reps because he'll likely need to step in even if for only one series before this season is over. I have been very vocal about Ryan Day fucking the Offense up by never allowing the backup QB to throw in an actual game and now we're going to see the consequences if only in deciding who to start.

That’s insulting

It is insulting, you're right. But this team deserves it. Lose 2 in a row to TSUN and you deserve to be insulted. Fair enough that neither of these guys played in either of those games. But these quarterbacks need to bridge that gap. If either is insulted by the comparison, win The Game to shut people like me up.

I'm so glad the season is almost here so we can actually discuss their play versus speculating. Do we know that McCord is only a game manager? He started one game as a true freshman two years ago and had a stat line of 13-18, 319yds, 2 TDs, 1 Int.
For anyone that followed Kyle's recruitment and watched his film in PA, he routinely made big plays against top competition with his legs and arm, and I believe won a 2-3 state titles (I could be wrong on that last point, I tried digging around a little but couldn't find it). As you said, he made some big plays with his arm in his lone start after a rocky first couple series. So the "game manager" moniker to me derives from a couple spring games, which we should know is often a vanilla play calling affair.

So Kyle could very well be a playmaker, I think we are mostly speculating on Kyle's capabilities in that area. Kid is a sophomore and we don't know what he can do. I can say the Bauserman 2.0 comments are absolutely ridiculous, Kyle is lightyears better than him.

I don’t think the comment has anything to do with the losses vs TSUN.
