QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

Zach Boren said on The Podcast today that the coaches were disappointed that one of the QBs (he wouldn’t say who, but it’s obviously McCord) went from his first read to his check down right away too much instead of taking shots to the second or third read, so they really want him to make more plays.

While it’s obvious Brown takes those shots more but also probably makes more mistakes.

They want to see in a game who makes the plays while limiting the mistakes… they’re hoping McCord makes more plays and Brown makes less mistakes… we’ll see what happens.

It sounds kinda like McCord was trying to nurse his lead into the clubhouse, and maybe in a game he’ll let it rip more.

Taking care of the football > being the "x" factor in a playoff game they haven't reached yet.

Game reps will tell the tale. The best part is people can stop needlessly worrying about it.

Stay away from twitter lol, it's the opposite going on there. Lot's of unnecessary "hate" for Kyle going on (one of the first comments you see on the 11W post is "BAUSERMAN 2.0"  ) . People need to chill and give it a chance instead of knee jerk reaction BS. But I expect if he comes out slow against Indiana we will see the same panic/"bench him now!" rhetoric we got with Stroud early on.

You can blame people like Zach Smith for the circus.

JFC people are nuts. Kyle has already shown he’s light years better than Bauserman. None of these folks have even see Devin play in a game.

Looking forward to seeing both guys get some playing time.

In situations like this everyone always loves the perceived "more exciting" guy more. I'm not shocked some are melting down over this, but good grief, Day has proven 100% that he can be trusted when it comes to the QB.

Right move imo even if Brown was slightly ahead and I do think this is extremely close, and the named starter could have gone either way. If you start Brown the first game, Kyle likely bolts. If Kyle is not making the plays we need, Brown will be ready to go. Again, I am not worried about the QB situation as much as I am the OL protecting whoever is in there.

That's because this fanbase is filled with morons, idiots and former scUM fans who don't understand football.

Kyle can't go anywhere till the end of season because of the transfer portal windows they implemented last season. So if that is Day's thought process I'm disappointed.

He could just pack it in and not be a part of the team though. Nothing stopping him from doing that even though he can’t actually transfer till after the season

Didn't realize that, thanks for the correction. Then I can't imagine that factored in and Kyle just won the job, albeit with a razor-thin margin.
