except people don't stop listening if they hate the person talking.....sometimes they listen more.It may effect his radio show and thus his pocket book, if the sponsers realize no one is listening anymore.
It will effect his ability to get inside info, talk to the players, coaches, etc. Nobody is going to give him the time of day anymore.
If he truly has a place in his heart for tOSU and it's football program, the intense rejection from fans, players and coaches could impact him personally.
It could impact his national persona when everybody realizes that his Alma Mater doesn't want to have anything to do with him.

Unless he legitimately doesn't like OSU anymore, I can't see a reason.

Personally, I don't think it matters to him one iota.

Unless Herbie has the same HPD that LeBron does, he CAN'T be stupid enough to believe that he can do what he's done and still have any semblance of respect from THE Ohio State or its fans. In the end he's getting paid either way, so why would he care?

3074326;1857830; said:I also agree with what Jax said. But he could easily get paid without being biased against his alma mater/bad at commentary. He used to do it.
But Jax's post sums up how I feel about this situation entirely, so if we both agree with that post, we're on the same page.
SloopyHangOn;1857836; said:See, I'm not sure if he COULD get paid without it. I was once a Herbie apologist, so I've seen the evolution. He sounds like a pullstring doll nowadays. I can only imagine that's the product of the folks signing the checks. But like Jax said, I don't think it matters to him anymore.

You may not like that. You may think he has an obligation to ALWAYS speak highly of his alma mater, but until the school pays his salary and tells him what his job requires him to say he is free to draw his own conclusions.
How difficult is that to understand?

It could be any school and a different person's vote and I'd call that move stupid beyond words. It's not that he isn't fondling OSU that's the problem. It's just that he's being really stupid about it. The team and school (Gee's comments - even though I agree with them) have given the media plenty to criticize. He's just not doing it intelligently.
That's my issue, anyways. His actions are stupid to the point of not being defensible. I'd be saying this if it were someone who didn't go to OSU.
