QB Kenny "the old righty" Guiton (WR Coach Wisconsin)

I hate to say this, but despite Johnny being a flaming asshole, I'd have to give the Heisman nod to Manziel. His performance against Alabama proved just what a talent he is.

Doubtful. Either way, these things have a way of evening out. If the Passion of the Tebow didn't win it twice despite the mediots love affair with him in college, no way does Johnny FUBAR win it twice.

At this point Kenny is the more accurate passer and Braxton the more dangerous runner. I still think Braxton is the man but like everyone else, I have full confidence in Kenny's ability to get the job done, and get it done in an impressive manner.
The buckeyes have been blessed with class acts at the backup QB spot for the last decade, Zwick accepted his demotion and worked for the team, same with Boeckman and Schoenhoft, and now Kenny. No feuds, no pouting (I'm looking at you Stanley Jackson), Just do your job, support #1 and think of the team first.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 20, 2013

  • It all feels like a dream to Kenny Guiton.

Last year’s Purdue game was a moment — a glorious moment, but in the end only a moment.

What the Ohio State quarterback has done the past two weeks is validation. Guiton now knows without a doubt that he belongs, that feats he dared not even imagine can come true.

Guiton might not start Saturday against huge underdog Florida A&M; that depends on Braxton Miller’s knee. But Buckeye fans no longer have to worry if Guiton is under center, regardless of the opponent.

The fifth-year senior played well in taking over after Miller was injured early against San Diego State, and he was even better last week at California. His four-touchdown performance earned him Walter Camp national offensive player of the week honors, and the same from the Big Ten.

“I never saw this coming,” Guiton said. “Being the backup, I knew I would play a role in the season. I knew there would be times I’d maybe have to come in to do something. But never in a million years would I have guessed that I’d be a national player of the week.”

Braxton has been more accurate in terms of completion percentage this year but both have slightly different passing qualities. Guiton reads the defenses better and has better touch on his deep balls. Braxton has better velocity and is getting the ball to receivers quick so they can pick up YAC's. Braxton's biggest passing weakness is he isn't very decisive and takes too many sacks. Braxton has the edge in rushing but it's pretty much a wash in passing. Guiton is very veteran in his knowledge and decision making, But his sample size is so small and his time as a buckeye is almost over. Both are great QB's but Braxton's ceiling is higher in my opinion. I'd like to see some passing performances that push well into the mid 300's in terms of yardage, that compare with some of the top passing QB's. I know our dynamic run game cuts into this aspect but you'd think we'd see more 300 yard games against some of these defenses.

Urban has said his goal for every game is 250 yds passing / 250 yds running. Anything beyond that is icing. Theoretically, if you don't turn the ball over 3-4 times you should be able to win every game with those numbers.
