Then I take exception to people who call Krenzel a game manager.
Krenzel was the shining definition of a game manager. He was extremely intelligent and poised in the pocket, occasionally making a big play. Never had the best arm or was the fastest player, but he just got it done.

That's a little miss leading, Pryor only lost to Wisconsin(on the road), USC(at home), and Penn St(at home freshman yr). Texas bowl game I believe he didn't start, but those are all tough teams. Not saying Toledo is bad or that I don't like Joe, because I do. I am just saying that was an unfair comparison on Pryor's behalf. I just hope they work it all out and this could be one of those amazing years.

Purdue '09.

Please raise your hand if you believe the 2002 season will ever be repeated in similar fashion again.....or raise your hand if you believe we have that defense. Go Bucks

Raise your hand if you think it's too early to tell.....or raise your hand if you like comparing different teams, coached by different people, in a different "era" of football. Go Bucks.

1. I think we're being too critical here.
2. We're fans - that's what we do.
3. We're finding connections to a season that, really, shouldn't be compared to this season at all. Other than the fact that it's the same university, same home stadium, and that our current head coach was on that coaching staff, there really aren't any connections between 2002 and 2011.
4. But since so many people want to find those connections, I'll play, too:
- The guy who started at quarterback in 2002 was expected to be a placeholder until that season's phenomenal freshman was supposed to take over. Same is true in 2011.
- 2002 was the first time Ohio State had a chance to play 14 games. 2011 is the second time Ohio State has a chance to play 14 games.
- Easy game against an in-state opponent turned out to be very close. In 2002, we thought it was showing the signs of the apocalypse. In 2011, who knows?
5. Craig Krenzel is not Joe Bauserman, and vice versa. They each had/have different skills. If we want to continue on this thread of game manager vs. game changer, fine. I think all quarterbacks need to have a certain amount of decision-making (game management) and skills (game changing) to be successful. CK is often considered a game manager. The guy just didn't make many mistakes. But he also had decent skills. He may not have been fast or agile, but the dude got out of the pocket at the right time and escaped some pass rushes and did what needed to be done. And he didn't have the greatest arm, but he made some really good throws. Because I haven't seen Bauserman make plays that change a loss into a win, I'd have to label him a game manager, too. But really, I don't think we've seen much of his decision-making.
6. Going back to the Cincinnati game in 2002 (I know, my thought process is very nonlinear), CK had to make plays to win that game - or at least, ONE play (the touchdown run). I don't know that we had witnessed his game management, yet. Crap - that was a long time ago.
7. Bauserman is not Krenzel. Maybe if I say it often enough, it will become not true. I should stop making the comparison.
8. Bauserman may throw for 350 yards, and 4 touchdowns, en route to a 38-20 win over Miami. I hope he does. I like him.
9. If he's at 75 yards, 0 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, and the Buckeyes are down 0-24 at the half, I'll be calling for his head, too.

Ohio State spotlight: QB Joe Bauserman

Regardless of Joe Bauserman being a fifth-year senior, and being 25 to boot, the fact is tonight the Ohio State quarterback will make just his third collegiate start when Ohio State plays at Miami.

Experience wise, he?s still a fledgling, and he showed that at times last week as he and the offense struggled to find consistency against a Toledo defense that was mixing looks and gambits all day in the 27-22 OSU win. But his age/maturity was one reason why the coaching staff stuck with Bauserman and didn?t play promising freshman Braxton Miller, a decision which played to mixed reviews from the media and OSU fans this week.

?Ultimately that's a position that gets criticized and critiqued the most,? OSU coach Luke Fickell said. ?I think maybe eventually he's going to have to do some other things and maybe take some more shots? trying to fit throws into tighter spaces because ?everybody can look back at plays and say, ?Oh, we gave one away there. He was open.? But I thought Joe did a pretty good job in the things we asked him to do.?
