We had a game manager in 2002...don't forget that.
We also had Maurice Clarett in the backfield, and one of the best WR's in school history out wide in Jenkins, in addition to Gamble and Hartsock.

We have a very young team out there with Joe right now. They only playmaker with experience out there is Stoneburner, and while he has looked good this year outside of the untimely drop he doesn't have a history of being relied upon as a top option offensively.

I think if Boom is lining up in the backfield, Posey is out wide, and Adams is protecting the blindside, Joe would have more success with more experienced playmakers out there. But due to suspensions Joe doesn't have the luxury of working with those guys.

Joe didn't make a big mistake today. And he was in control of the offense.
His deep throws were on target but Smith couldn't separate from the DB.
He's not flashy but he's the best we got right now. Putting Braxton in today would have been a big gamble in such a tight game.

No, they weren't. A couple were badly overthrown and the receiver had no chance on the ball. At least two were thrown late to receivers that had separation and had to slow up to wait for the ball allowing the defender to catch up.

0 interceptions, and sacked 0 times. He's the guy I want on the field, at the moment. That said, I'm surprised we didn't see Miller, as well.

I believe, though, that had Ohio State given up that touchdown at the end of the game and lost, it would not have been on Bauserman. The running game wasn't moving the ball, which is more-or-less required for that style of offense. Plus, 27 points (20 by the offense) SHOULD be enough to beat a MAC team, Toledo or otherwise. That loss would have been more on the running game and on the defense.

And when it comes to game changer vs. game manager, I'd love to have a Tyrelle Pryor, but I miss Craig Krenzel.

The running game wasn't working because there were 8-9 in the box. There were 8-9 in the box because they had no respect for the passing game. That they had no respect for the passing game is on Joe B and his inconsistent passing.

And the plays that were called. If they have 8-9 in the box then run some quick slants. Make them pay for playing that type of defense.

Play calling was fine we just didn't execute them. Many times Bauserman went deep when he had people WIDE OPEN in the flats as check downs. It was like Joe was trying to win the position outright every pass by going for the homerun. Sometimes stringing together some doubles (posts), and getting a few singles (slants) can be just as good. Yet there we were throwing deep late in the 4th when we needed to keep the clock and chains moving.

Put Braxton in there and all the sudden those Linebackers aren't running up there so wrecklessly toward the backs because if he pulls it back and runs he's gone. I also think Braxton is more prone to taking whats given to him at this point rather than throwing deep. Not to mention having his running ability would've helped chew up clock.

College football is about team depth and coaching. We are playing short-handed and a lot of youth and still winning! In the long run this team will only get better. And we're pretty good right now!

Since 2002 has been mentioned, I remember escaping with a win against the Bearcats (whatever those are) only because of a Will Allen pick. Things can (will?) get better. If the defense continues to improve and we don't put them in absurd short-field situations, we can win with a Krenzel-type QB. That said, there are real problems with JB from my perspective. He is very slow getting passing plays started and executed. His throws are often late and while he hasn't yet thrown a pick, he lacks the velocity to continue living on that edge. Against an even faster defense than Toledo, we will have problems if that doesn't get corrected.

I don't see us beating Wisconsin with Joe B and no guarantee with Miller either..if Joe B could improve to CK level maybe but with that throwing motion I am skeptical

By then we should have the 7 suspended players back. 4 of those will give JB or Miller alot of help. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. who knows what the teams will look like in a month.
