This back up QB was one of the top recruits in the nation last year. The starter is a 25 year old walk on with very little game experience. I don't think it is unrealistic for anyone to question why the back up didn't get some playing time - particularly given the coach said he would - when the offense could only muster 20 points against a MAC team.
My statement was directed to the portion where Josh stated last year the same fans were booing Pryor and wanting Joe as much as anything. I'm going to root for whoever the coaches put on the field.

We saw that often from Joe in practice. He made some strides over the last week or two before the season, but the hesitation, checkdowns & inconsistency is certainly not an outlier.

That's somewhat disconcerting. I'd be relieved if we saw Braxton at all today, but considering we didn't it scares me that much more.

6) QB: right now...tOSU is using a game manager, not a game changer. Pick your poison folks. Choose wisely...
Considering how reliant we've been on our QB in the past, I choose game changer. Bauserman deserves credit for the win, but when we can't move the line of scrimmage in our favor we need someone to take control; before Terrell it was Beanie, before Beanie it was Smith. I think it's Millers time to shine.

Yep. And according to LF (in the post game presser), Braxton isn't a "backup." He is still claiming that they have 2 quarterbacks, just like they have 2 MLBs, blah blah... He claims Braxton wasn't put in based on the momentum of the game, which makes no sense, as our momentum was killed multiple times by 3 and outs while Bauserman was under center.

I'm not pulling for one player over another, just pulling for success out of the most important position on the field. If it's not coming from one guy who is evidently only one of two quarterbacks, not the designated "starter," then it makes absolutely no sense that you wouldn't see the other one.

Consider me confused.

We had a game manager in 2002...don't forget that.

0 interceptions, and sacked 0 times. He's the guy I want on the field, at the moment. That said, I'm surprised we didn't see Miller, as well.

I believe, though, that had Ohio State given up that touchdown at the end of the game and lost, it would not have been on Bauserman. The running game wasn't moving the ball, which is more-or-less required for that style of offense. Plus, 27 points (20 by the offense) SHOULD be enough to beat a MAC team, Toledo or otherwise. That loss would have been more on the running game and on the defense.

And when it comes to game changer vs. game manager, I'd love to have a Tyrelle Pryor, but I miss Craig Krenzel.

All the 3-and-outs aren't entirely Joe's fault, but there sure were a lot of them today. And he bears a lot of the responsibility.

True. We didn't really have much of an offensive game plan either. Run up the middle on every first down and try to get out of our first down hole with two mass protection pass plays. Ugggh!

Miller would add to the running game..after three more games the QB position will be clearer.. one way or the other if it isn't we are in big trpuble..can this offense win with a game manager..last year we needed the game changer this year we will see..

Joe didn't play well today...neither did the rest of the team.

I'm going to chalk this one up to the letdown after opening week...so much happened in the offseason and the kids played like animals last week. This week maybe they're looking ahead to Miami and you have a team from Toledo coming into the Shoe? Easy to overlook. Hell, I've been thinking about my trip to Miami for about 10 weeks and it's made me nearly worthless at work the past 10 days. I can't fault the kids for being a little flat today- that they were totally flat is something I'm going to overlook. I have faith the coaches will slap that mentality out of them for next week.

I'll be excited no matter who lines up behind center next week. If it's Joe I'm going with positive thoughts that he'll play more like week 1 than week 2.

You guys enjoy this discussion...I'm moving on to scUM south.

"Offensive linemen said Toledo was bringing safeties into the box and loading the middle with bodies."

With 8 guys loading box and teams not respecting the pass it's gonna be extremely hard to run the ball especially with the fact Adams is still out as well. The defenses that we see from here on out are going to be more athletic and they are gonna load the box and bring more heat. With the pressure dialed up on the QB we are going to need to roll the pocket and need mobility at the QB position. Time will tell but Miami will be a good test to see how Bauserman will handle the pressure.
