QB J.T. Barrett (B1G FOY, All American, Silver Football Award, 3x B1G QBOY, National Champion)

I see the holier than thou crowd has returned. Apparently a few people have never made a mistake in their lives. Not surprisingly at least one is a poster who treads on the thin line of player bashing during game threads.
No comment on the poster to whom you refer (don't know him) but my, isn't it refreshing to see so much harmony and unity? I agree...this is not the time to pile on.

Gee....wouldn't it be more refreshing--per chance more constructive--to discuss the Draconian laws rooted in Federal posturing that decree an 18-20 year old is adult enough to vote or serve in the military but not adult enough to drink?

The driving part is what really got him in trouble though -- and that's no good regardless of age.
But the drinking age and the way cops use traps to generate tax revenue are both deplorable.

If we're all being honest I bet >50% of this board has driven at some point when they would have blown over a .08. If he was truly just over a .08 that is a pretty small amount of beer and probably a bigger deal that he's under 21. It sucks especially for JT at this point of his life, but with the kind of guy it seems like he is I bet he comes out of this a better man. In the grand scheme of fuckups this is pretty low on the list. Now if he had blown a .15 things might be different.

I could see Meyer taking away his captaincy for the season and make him earn it back next year, but I'd be surprised if he isn't back in the starting lineup for MSU.

Drinking is one thing. (I'm assuming that's what it was. OVI can be any substance, correct? I'd imagine that if it was something other than alcohol, I would've heard about it by now.) Anyway, drinking is one thing - it's driving that is the killer. (I'm glad that isn't to be taken literally, this time.) And I'm not taking a "holier-than-thou" approach. I did a lot of dumb things when I was 18-20. Even since then. But he and I and everyone need to know how dangerous that is. And I'm sure he "knows" it. He needs to "live" it.

JT, I hope you've learned from this. I hope all those close to you have learned from this. I hope millions of fans have learned from this. I'm behind Cardale 100% this weekend, and we'll see what happens after that.
Go Bucks.

I'd be willing to bet that a fair percentage of this board that went to a Halloween party drove home over a .03.

If this is the worst thing he does at OSU, he will be fine. He will show what kind of person and leader he is, and I suspect he is what I think he is.

Not really seeing much holier than thou on here. Gotta be aware that lots of people have lost loved ones or suffered permanent injury as a result of this particular "young man mistake" and there is a lot of emotion in their opinions on this subject.

If someone would want to be self-righteous about it, it might be good for them to post their 3 biggest sins before getting into someone else's imperfection. Humble judgment is usually well-received. Self-righteous judgment not so much.

But asking for accountability and responsibility does not indicate one is coming from a holier than thou perspective and the idea it does would seem to be about avoiding accountability and responsibility. FWIW.

J.T. Barrett forfeited his scholarship for a term, per Urban Meyer.

Ryan Ginn ‏@RyanGinnBSB
As of now, J.T. Barrett is still an Ohio State captain.

Blake Williams ‏@BWilliamsBSB
Meyer still going through things WRT Barrett's captaincy. As of now he won't lose that.

"Meyer met with some older players about Barrett losing his captaincy and they were against it, so his thought right now is that Barrett will remain a captain."
