QB Devin "Utah" Brown (Official Thread)

I'm surprised a guy his age knows of Sammy Baugh. It's the first thing I thought of but Devin Brown could call me gramps.

I don't think he's going anywhere. This year, anyway. And aside from breaking a hand, it's not really all that similar to Burrow. That was August (?), this is April, that was a battle for the backup for 2017, this is obviously for a starting job.

And it may not be likely, but it is possible McCord is one and done and Devin is the heavy favorite to start next year. I just don't see him leaving before January, no matter what.

Ohio State's Devin Brown is 'doing good', 'healthy' after finger surgery

Brown, however, is back. Dennis said Brown is doing awesome after the surgery and is now able to throw.

"He's doing good," the quarterback coach said. "He's healthy. He's getting back. Getting back to it."

The next few months before the 2023 season will be big for both Brown and McCord. Neither player was able to establish themselves as the starter coming out of spring practice, both having good and bad moments. While this is not abnormal at this time of the year for quarterbacks with limited experience, head coach Ryan Day did express hope prior to spring that one player would begin to separate over the course of the 15 practices.

"They're grinding every single day," Dennis said of Brown and McCord. "They both want to be great. And so we're excited to see what they do the rest of the summer even more.
