QB Devin "Utah" Brown (Official Thread)

Beautiful instrument. I hope he gets to sign that NFL contract with it. His odds significantly increase if he asks his parents to put it in a safe at home until then. While nowhere near the price of this one, And it also wasn’t cobranded with Enzo’s name… I was gifted an antique Pelican fountain pen and pencil set when I was in HS. I’m thankful that it was confiscated by my mom until adulthood.

… and seriously? Enzo’s name on a German brand? Montegrappa, sure. Montblanc? Not so much. I hope that the fine folks at Montblanc didn’t chauffeur him from the airport to their offices in a Benz. LOL. I do get it though… I write every day with a (now) 30+ year old Meisterstuck set and enjoy it immensely.

I write with Bic 0.7mm mechanical pencils. You can pick them up from grocery stores in a package that comes out to less than a dollar a pencil. Did you lose a pencil? There are 11 more pencils in that package. Did you lose 11 more pencils? You can buy another package of 12 pencils for less than $10.

I wonder what has happened with all of the pens and pencils I've lost in my lifetime.

Here's a link to an Amazon listing for a package of 40 of these for $12.

True story: I was working as a technician 22 years ago where we were inspecting underground storage tanks at gas stations. One dude was teaching me how to do the testing, then he'd let me try on my own. The first thing I did was drop his expensive pencil down into the tank. I learned to buy cheap pencils after that.

I have to laugh. I know that I’m a bit of a freak when it comes to things like this. Writing instruments, sunglasses and I’m sure there’s a few other items that are similar on this front… either way, two schools of thought: I’m just going to lose it so why buy something nice — or — If I buy something nice and don’t lose it, I’ll enjoy it more.

I still own sunglasses (2-pair of Wayfarers) that I purchased in the mid-80s while in HS. All told, over the probably 18-20 pairs of sunglasses I’ve owned over the years, I still have 15 of them. I’ve broken a couple exercising, getting hit by stray lacrosse balls (yeah, zero fun) and one pair in a car door that got caught by the wind… but I have never _lost_ a pair. Same with my writing instruments. Hell, I had two Pentel .7mm mechanical pencils that I bought freshman year at tOSU in ‘88 and they left with me to my first job at Booz Allen after grad school in ‘94. Not joking. I finally had to retire them because they wore out.

I totally get where you’re coming from, but I guess due to my anal retentive nature about certain things in my life, I’m allowed to have nice things.

I do have a couple of pencils that I spent maybe $10-$15 on - each. And others maybe $7 each.
My favorite may be this one:

(Except mine is 0.7mm.)
Nice. But is it 15 times as nice as the Bic plastic guys? You might say yes and that's cool. I'd say it isn't.
Why the hell are we talking about this? Ha!

That looks comfortable. That’s one of the things I liked about the Pentels. They were pretty bullet proof and comfortable to write with.

  • There were no surprises at quarterback: C.J. Stroud took all of the first-team reps, Kyle McCord led the second-team offense and Devin Brown was the third quarterback in the order.
C.J. Hicks picked off a pass by Devin Brown after the veterans left practice to allow the young players to get additional reps.

Kyion Grayes was a frequent target for Devin Brown during the young guys team period
