QB Devin "Utah" Brown (Official Thread)

So which came first? This kid committed because of Ewers, or Ewers is leaving because of this kid?

I have a hard time believing that the staff didn't have a hint this was in the works.

Ohio State football recruiting: QB signee Devin Brown reacts to Quinn Ewers' Texas transfer

Five-star freshman Quinn Ewers transferred from Ohio State to Texas midway through December. Fortunately for the Buckeyes, they secured a quarterback in their Class of 2022 earlier that month when Devin Brown committed. Now signed to OSU, Brown looks to compete with Kyle McCord as the heir to 2021 Heisman Trophy finalist C.J. Stroud. Originally, Brown chose Ohio State with no knowledge of Ewers’ intentions to transfer to Texas, according to Bucknuts.

“No, I had no indication,” Brown said. “My plan was to go in and compete with him. That’s what I wanted to do so I was actually sad when he left.

Keep in mind that Brown out performed Ewers at the Elite 11 QB camp:

"He’s a guy who’s got all the talent you're looking for at the position," said 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong, "A strong arm, accurate passer who can make things happen to all levels of the field.
"In addition, he's got a moxie, a confidence, to him. He embraces the stage that Ohio State plays on and the competition that's in the quarterback room. He’s got the mentality that you need to play at a place like Ohio State where there's so much scrutiny."
Brown's stock rose after a strong performance at the Elite 11 competition earlier this year, which included Ewers.
"He was arguably the best guy there," Wiltfong said of Brown.
