QB Antonio Henton (transfer to Ga. Southern and FT. Valley St.)

Alright, after seeing the pic of him with his head down in front of the judge, I think we need to leave this one be. I know it can be fun to rip on folks, but this is a kid who made a stupid decision and will pay plenty for it for who knows how long. I think we need to keep our class and just report the facts. He'll face his judgement...not our job.

I couldn't agree more. That head down picture transmits enough of a message of shame and judgement by his peers to satisfy my court room. He got caught with his hand in the cookie jar (so to speak), the attention and ridicule from the Buckeye Community will be punishment enough. I hope to see him on the field again with his head high and this behind him as soon as soon as we can win the next game and move on. Let's refocus our attention to that and give Antonio our best as he enters another arena to fight his off-field battles.

Now, that is something I hadn't heard before. $19 in pocket and reportedly negotiating tail at $20 a pop. Mmm? Definitely a case of the math not adding up.

I guessed you missed pages 62 and 63 of this thread (posts 916 thru 936 or so).

Where are methomps rules about double-posts? :wink2:

We have had a day to react to the news that Antonio was arrested for allegedly soliciting a Columbus police officer posing as a prostitute, a charge to which he has plead 'not guilty'. It is an appropriate time to remind members about the focus of this forum and what is appropriate for posting in this thread.

This thread is for discussion of Antonio Henton in his capacity as an Ohio State football player. Clearly, Antonio's arrest has been a disappointment to most Ohio State fans, many of whom will share the sentiments that Deety raised about the social issues to which it draws attention. Others will no doubt have a different moral perspective, as expressed by some posts in this thread.

In either case, it was natural that people wanted to discuss their reactions to the arrest and that the conversation would include some discussion normally not welcome in the Football Forum.

Our concern is that this off-topic discussion and speculation must now end in the Football Forum.

This is not the proper thread, or forum, for discussing the following matters:
  • Antonio Henton's private life, place of domicile, or family relations
  • The private relations of Ohio State football players with others (or their ability to find sexual partners!)
  • The implications of the current charges for potential recruits choosing Ohio State
Please place any posts about prostitution, its moral or (un)humorous implications, or any other matter not related to Antonio Henton as an Ohio State football player to the appropriate forum in the Open Discussion Forum.

I’m not saying this because I think Henton won’t get another shot at being the quarterback but just as a general question in case he gets surpassed. If he is out for a good number of games or the entire season and comes in next year behind all other quarterbacks as punishment and Pryor commits to Ohio State, comes in and really impresses the coaches what happens to Henton?

He wouldn’t be a typical backup that never gets to see the field as the starter during his college carrier a la Zwick and possibly Schoenhoft; he is athletic enough to play many positions. If he doesn’t become the starter after Boeckman leaves what is his second best position and as the backup how much time should he see at that position in case of injury.

I’m only asking because if Pryor does come in and is phenomenal, takes over as the starter as a true sophomore it would be great to have someone that talented on the team, but I would hate to see Henton’s talent not be utilized in some way.

Lots of if's there... and... I know we're here to speculate... but... I tend to think if he gets suspended for next year, and pryor commits, its most likely he'd transfer... at any rate... lots of different issues.

Oh... Verdana 1 works great.:wink2:

Seriously, I can't imagine how anyone could answer such questions?

After all, Henton may be found innocent of the charges. If he is found guilty of the misdemeanor, we have no idea how it might affect Henton's playing time, or even his position on the team, in the future. Coach Tressel has did not even realize that Henton pleaded not guilty when he spoke publicly about the incident.

So, barring Carnac returning from the dead, how could anyone answer your questions?

Ehh he is young and will be fine. Shit happens.

Anyway, who hasnt solicited a hooker before.....................did I say that outloud?

Dude, I heard that!! I agree he is still young and shit does happen.

But I'm really disappointed in some of you guys. I would say most, if not all of you, have been in trouble with the law in one form or another (and got caught). Yes the kid got caught breaking the law but what you gives you guys the right to bust his balls about it. Kid makes a mistake, faces the consequences and continues to live his life and with the support of family, friends and hopefully the Buckeye community and its fans. I find it somewhat ironic and kind of funny because...well...you get the idea. But I feel for Henton. Yes he knows better and I'm certain sorry for what happened (but most of all getting caught and the embarassment that goes along with it). I would say this kid learned his lesson, Hopefully JT and the crew gives him another shot and a fair one as well. Hang in there Antonio.

1. None of us has played QB at The Ohio State University, which
2. Most certainly give us the right to bust his balls for doing something stupid

When you're in such a position, young or not, you need to realize that your every move is scrutinized. Can't stand the heat? GTFOTK...

Wow, taking etiquette lessons from Tibs now? :shake:

While I understand he's going to get a lot of scrutiny, I think we should be more on the supporting side than on the "oh my god, how could you?!?" side that a lot of people have jumped on.

I've already stated my piece here, personally, there's not a whole lot more needs to be said until a verdict comes out. Not that it really matters, regardless of the situation or what comes later he seems to have already been convicted in the court of public opinion.

Henton getting his balls busted might be the thing that keeps him from (allegedly) making a dumb mistake like this in the future - and it's one of the consequences of his decision that he has to face. He might not be reading our comments and he doesn't have to care what we think. For everybody's sake though I hope that people he knows give him all kinds of shit over this - it's not just their right, it's their responsibility as friends-teammates-coaches-parents.

I guarantee that Jim Tressel does not agree with that sentiment. The mistake was (allegedly) committing the act - not the fact that he got caught.
