QB Antonio Henton (transfer to Ga. Southern and FT. Valley St.)

step back from the ledge, people.

1) it's a misdemeanor. if you're caught dead to rights, plead no contest and take your fine. he plead not guilty.

Exactly - and that's with a public defender, not someone who can provide extremely sophisticated (read: expensive) legal advice. Most public defenders will try to get cases wrapped up asap and encourage a guilty plea.

2) i've known people to get caught in a solicitation sting that were COMPLETELY innocent. here's how it goes:

It was a sting operation. Alot of times these things are designed as sweeps to quickly clean up an area. They'll take in a bunch of people and let things shake out.

Remember folks, all jokes aside, this thing happened less than 24 hours ago and Henton plead not guilty. For all we know, this could still be a wild misunderstanding or (as LV illustrated) a 20 year old kid joking around with the wrong person. Let's take a break and wait for some real updated news rather than a) make comparisons to persons who were given due process and found guilty, b) dismiss Antonio forever, or (worse) c) start imagining how this will affect recruiting.

Don't you mean 'Johns'? And they obviously do that to discourage the activity from the other side of the transaction, because of the potential for embarrassment. This case will make a lot of guys think twice before looking to buy some tail.

of course i mean "johns" in that sentence. but i can't hardly lay out the scenario that i did with an average john walking down the street, for reasons that should be obvious.

actually, the standard operating procedure for the public defender's office is to have the guy plea not guilty, then strike a plea deal to either get the charge reduced to something other than solicitation, and at the worst, not make the guy have to attend the weekend "john's school" for solicitors.

and actually, for certain types of cases, the public defender is a better option than private counsel, unless they specialize in that area.

Damn straight. Don't spend more than $20 on your hookers, because the Franklin County Sheriff's Dept. has already researched that that's the going rate.
