I don't get this statement, because people don't agree with you that makes them blind homers?

Poor Antonio.

Care to elaborate on who exactly is being a clueless, blind homer?

If you want to make an accusation, just do it. Don't be backhanded about it.

WTF is that supposed to mean? You do realize that guys have been picking up prostitutes for the entire history of mankind...There are hundreds of worse things I can think of that he could have been doing...Suspend him for a while. Then give him some hand lotion and a porn mag and tell him not to do it again...That's not "blind homerism", that's all the punishment this crime deserves.

EDIT:ooops! Split before I could jump...:smash:

It's a strange day when lv is the one telling people to back away from the ledge. :tongue2:

As far as the severity of this crime, in a legal sense, he didn't do anything violent and it's pretty low on the scale. However, in a PR sense for OSU football, it's felony stupid. Not Troy Smith taking $500 felony stupid, however. It's also not "I-robbed-two-people-at-gunpoint-in-an-alley-when-I'm-more-recognizable-than-the-flippin-mayor" stupid. It may not even be "I-tried-to-strangle-a-Wisconsin-quarterback" stupid.

Not to defend ol' Nate there too much, but for a lot of people, this kind of crime is morally offensive and/or disgusting, which compounds the public image issue. I can see where there would be discomfort at the idea that Henton could be a team leader at some point.

Personally, I am more concerned that the kid may turn out to have bad judgement in general, whether he's holding a football or not. Soliciting a prostitute or getting a DUI is one thing. Throwing an ill-advised ball into double coverage late in the fourth quarter of a tie ball game is unforgivable.

While this might sound cold, Henton's arrest is an opportunity for Schoenhoft to step up and seize the #2 spot solidly, and show that he's a future starter. If I were in his shoes, I'd definitely be stepping things up a notch.

Just checked the franklin county courts website and it looks as though the charges have been dismissed.
Last it was checked there are two file sheets - one dismissed (entered 9/24) and another with revised information - though still a wrong DOB (entered 9/25). Wonder if they got around to correcting the latter and so we see another hiatus in Henton's status in the system?
OK - Just checked and the newer 3532338 filing is still active - SIMV, I think you were looking at 3532052 - the earlier filing.

I see the scene with Steve Martin standing there with his hands out and his "daddy" plops down a scoop full of Shinola...

Do the coaches spend time each and every week going over the obvious with players, "Don't do anything that involves a gun or a knife, don't take money from anyone for any reason, don't hang out with the local "homeys,"
don't beat the shit out of deserving sonsabitches who bad mouth you, stay out of bars and strip clubs after eleven, don't talk to hookers, stay away from congressmen who want to play footsie in the airport bathroom..."??

It just seems incredible to me that so many schools go through this kind of crap every year with thier revenue sport athletes. It's not like there are so many things that you could do that will get front page attention. Nothing brings out bad publicity faster than nonsense like this.

I know, I know, "They're just kids," but I'd think that when measured against the harm that arises to the school, to the program and to the kid himself, that coaches would be in the pulpit going over what not to do day after day after day.

WTF, Don't they have football groupies anymore? Back when I went there (1966 - 1971) I lived in Smith Hall (all men's dorm) and so did several of the football players. There were football groupies that the players had sex with. Two of the more famous ones that lived in Baker Hall (all women's dorm) were referred to as "The Power Fuck" and "Sue The Jew". The players would talk (actually brag) about their one night stands with these two and others. Ohio State is really going downhill if they don't have football groupies anymore.
