QB Antonio Henton (transfer to Ga. Southern and FT. Valley St.)

Henton could certainly provide a spark for our offense even if he doesn't start. I think he will be a very good one, only question is when in my mind. My honest opinion is that I have no clue who I think wins the QB derby

Just rewatched Henton's scoring drive in the YSU game. He really did a very good job, if you ask me. He actually thew two TDs.. one to Sanzenbacher was dropped... It was a bullet of a pass on a slant, Henton probably should have taken a little bit off it, but Dane's gotta make that catch regardless. The other TD, was of course to Washington and it actually went for six.
I don't recall being particularly impressed the first time around (when the game was live - probably because I was at that point beginning to pay attention to the goings on in AA) but upon a replay, I think Henton did very well. Better than Schoenhoft (And I mean in this game, I don't mean to debate the issue in the larger sense)... at least in my lay opinion.

My opinion of watching it live, and not being too distracted by ASU, was just what you reported. I was impressed with Henton. Looked to me like he was decisive and crisp and it seemed that the offense in general seemed to be crisper, a little higher energy if you will, when he was in there. Thought he did quite well.

Boeckman did well enough Saturday to cement himself as the starter, but Henton played quite well, also. I'll say that before the season is over Henton will be the #2 QB.
Agreed.

Sophomores don't make that throw to Washington in-stride, over the middle. Henton is something special.

I agree with everyone. He looked great, but I think he did look a little jacked up as he absolutely unleashed on both of his passes. He deserves more reps in the weeks to come. Loved how he hit both recievers at perfect times in their routes and hit both of them perfectly in stride. Also like the fact that he's looking to throw before pass because everyone knows he can scramble pretty well. Excited to see him in the next couple weeks.

I agree I think Henton will be #2 by season end...My question is this to you guys what do you guys think the coaches see in Robbie as the #2?? (not tryin to slam Robbie at all). I just don't get how something kind of obvious is not so obvious to them? I know we don't see them practice or see how they do with certain throws but some players just have "IT". I mean it's been only 1 game but they asked Henton to throw 2 balls and both were tremendous and he led a touchdown drive. Where as Robbie's throws seemed forced and dangerous?? So for the coaches to still say they'll play Todd and Robbie and not sure about Henton is kind of rediculous to me. If they want things to be fair and even they need to give Henton some time as well.. I mean what are we going to do when Todd leaves and Robbie has playing time and Henton has minimal? I promise you they'll be saying that both QB's will get a fair shake at the starting job etc, but in reality how fair will it be for Henton?

Whoever said the offense seemed to have more jump when Antonio was in is right on the money. It was like when Troy would come in ever so often before he started the crowd got excited, the team got excited, and often times troy (in this case Henton) performed very well.

Robbie just seemed like he was ready to take off from the snap in the YSU game. Where as Henton was sitting in the pocket on his only two throws and threw some bullets.

Fellas........unless we lose a couple of games, Henton will not get much PT this season IMHO. I guess that I'm in the category thinking that this kid has a ton of potential, but the coaches do not trust him with the offense just yet. Now, that could all change if the offense sputters. They'll be more willing to give him a shot.

If Todd B. is steady.........then Henton will have another season to prepare for his breakout season.

That runs with what I think . JT won't play as many people this week or the next as he tries to solidify his starters. There may not be much of a drop off this week but I see Todd getting more and more reps as each week comes. Now Henton may or may not move into #2 and that remains to be seen. the only thing i know from that game is that Todd will be the starter until he loses the job.

I think we're in good hands with Todd for 2 years but I'm more worried about when Robbie and Antonio finally have a chance to start... When that time comes will Antonio really have a fair shot to win it away from Robbie?? I'm not saying the coaches will screw him over but rather the coaches won't know any better if they don't give both back ups equal reps and the same time of play calling... Henton's play calling was very vanilla and simple (he just capitalized on his only 2 chances) and Robbie's play calling was far more aggressive.

Why? Because a more studious (film) Zwick started ahead of a raw Smith many years earlier?

No, he will have no shot at starting, whatsoever. The Coaches have neither the desire or intention of playing the best players. Their minds are already made up as to who will and will not start three years from now.

Note sarcasm......
