Preseason and Regular Season Polls (2016)

If it wasnt harmful to the detriment of tOSU I wouldnt be rooting for the BIG to wreck this system.. like.. scUM loses twice.. OSU is 11-1 but doesnt get to go to conference championship game, PSU and Wisky win out including the Championship game. making them a VERY attractive 2 loss team. washington drops a game somewhere.. Bama's QB is hurt in their championship and is out for the year and they lose that game.. clemson falls to NC in the ACC championship.. who gets in?
That's easy! Ole Piss! because SEC!

Nobody! Bama gets their 37th national championship by default. Do you even SEC, bro?

Here's a scenario...for you if you're rooting for chaos...Tell me what happens here (and I don't think this is all that unlikely if we're being realistic)

-scUM beats tOSU in a close game (let's say OT)
-But..scUM LOSES the rematch to Wisconsin in the B1G Championship.
-Just to make things more fun, Louisville drops another game (unlikely, but still Houston on the horizon).
-Washington loses either a regular season game or their Championship (or both). I can definitely see this one.

There'd be two spots open (assuming things don't go even more haywire... the other two are occupied by Clemson and 'Bama).

-Does the committee take Wisconsin--who got beat by scUM AND Ohio State?

-A two loss tOSU, Louisville, Oklahoma (that got beat by tOSU)-none of which have Championships?
-One/two loss Washington (with poor SOS)?
-One loss scUM team that doesn't have a Championship?

Note: scUM and UW would be the only possible 1 loss teams but neither have Championships

Two spots...Who gets in? To me, this is much more fun to talk about than who they're ranking now.

Edit: My guess would be 1 loss scUM and either us or Louisville...but with either it still puts them in a position of having non-conf Champs AND two teams from the same conference to chose from. Both of which I think they try to avoid. Our losses would look better (I would think) since Penn State would override a possible Houston (or other) loss. Losing close games to scUM and in their case Clemson cancel each other out. SOS would ding a 1 loss UW right?

LOL....I know, I know. But, you know...I'm SO freaking pessimistic and I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility. Especially if the team that played NW shows up. I did listen to the Eleven Warriors podcast this morning and they said the crowd at the Nebraska game was rockin'. And, they cannot imagine how tOSU crazy fans will be for The Game. It'll be probably be the most hostile environment scUM (or any team) has faced all year. I wish I could be there.

But, if we lose a close scUM game do we have ANY chance of getting in as a 2 loss non-conf champ if Washington loses?

Oh, and I do have the power of the blanket which makes me feel a little better. We didn't really watch the Nebraska game with it in hand (we are in FL afterall). But, it was on hand for an emergency. Want to maintain the 2014 smell/feel/magic as much as possible.

It's very weird. Since I brought the big one home, my cat has been sleeping on the little "pet one" non-stop. He hasn't had any interest in sleeping on the bed ever. Now, all the sudden...it's Buckeye blanket all the time.

What was interesting to me is that Alabama is 80 points (1.2 votes) higher on the average voting card and the Buckeyes are 77 votes higher than Louisville (also about 1.2 votes). Buckeyes are a solid #2. It's the AP poll, but it is a good indicator to the committee.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that the Buckeyes would need style points. This remains true. MSU is not very highly regarded. Beating TSUN is in itself a style point, but if that means the PSU plays in the B1G championship game, the only way the Buckeyes get in is by demonstrating that they are over the offensive problems when they take on MSU.

Same top-10, except #9 and #10 are reversed in AP and Coaches.

you know, when you look at it only 1 team in the top 4 of these polls is likely to be a conference champion.

Also the more I see them have Penn State the 3rd highest rated 2 loss team, the more I find it...interesting.

USC being ranked 19th makes sense only if you ignore how they're playing right now.

Put a gun to my head and I'd call them one of the 4 best teams in the country.
Because they beat Washington?

Or were you enthralled with the wins over Oregon, Cal & Arizona (who are 3-7, 4-6 & 2-8)?

They've played 5 ranked teams. They lost 3 of them.

#2 in coaches poll

If that is any indicator of the general CFP consensus then the PAC12 is the least regarded of the P5 conferences at this point.

EDIT

something else to keep an eye on, PSU is only the 3rd highest 2 loss team.

AP is out, OSU #2

Top 4 is same as coaches, very similar overall

Hey! What is this shit? If you are going to bump a thread the least you could do is post the link to the actual USA Today and AP polls. There is only one SEC team in the top 10 at those links.

B1G B1G B1G!!!!
