Premier League (Official Thread)

...Now if he'll just play from a wider position and use his pace a bit more instead of crowding the center. Hopefully that will change with a manager that introduces tactics more nuanced than "[censored]ing run 'round a bit."

If -- it seems like when -- Modric leaves, need to find a new center mid to get the wingers the ball.

Someone's going to get Junion Hoilett cheap (even though he's a winger), and that's who I thought Spurs would sign if Bale left.

Whatever money Spurs get for Modric, get a early 20's midfielder and pray he stays for a while.

If they lose Modric, I guess I'd be in the minority hoping that Giovani Dos Santos gets a shot to develop at CAM.

He's not a like-for-like replacement for Modric who is more of a deep-laying playmaker. I would definitely like to see Gio get in the squad and get more than five minutes in Europa League matches though. If they can get him going he can provide cover for van der Vaart and on the wings. If they end up with a manager who utilizes a 4-3-3 primarily, there would be a lot of options for getting a guy like him on the pitch.

A lot of Spurs fans hate him and have written him off. All the American Spurs fans I've read though know how dangerous he can be and aren't ready to get rid of him. There's plenty of other dead wood at the club that would need to go before him.

Exactly. We have to put up with him in the International picture... They don't.

If they sell Modric, you'd hope Spurs and (new manager) Juande Ramos  would be able to buy a replacement (like for like). They'll have some money from the sale.

Spurs should be able to lure some early 20-year-old and give him a shot.

How about Dzagoev, because Arshavin and Pav worked so well

Sure they'll have some money, but I'd love to see Giovany get his shot.

The latest Modric rumor:

Real Madrid can't or won't offer enough to meet Spurs' demands. Chelsea are reportedly willing to splash the cash, but Spurs do not want to sell to another English club. They reportedly asked for Sahin to be thrown into the deal by Real Madrid as a makeweight, but Sahin does not want to leave.

Spurs have been linked to Moutinho as a possible Modric replacement, and he is reportedly interested in linking back up with AVB. I saw a rumor about ManU also being interested in him as a Modric replacement of sorts, since they are apparently being priced out of the bidding for Luka.

Spurs are being linked with Oscar, but the rumored amount makes it look like a bullshit rumor (way too low). At the moment, I'm more interested in his teammate Leandro Damiao. Spurs have been after him for a while it seems and haven't been able to break thru. Internacional are reportedly bringing in Diego Forlan though, which may free up LD for a move.

RVP NOT extending his contract at Arsenal. Not too surprising. Man City ? Wouldn't that be the ultimate slap in the face for Arsenal.

Follow @piersmorgan for rage comedy gold.

That's how I found out and there's no end in sight to his rage either.

He was an utter joy to follow all season through Arsenal's highs & lows (mostly lows).

"As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the boss [Arsene Wenger] and Mr [Ivan] Gazidis after the season. This was a meeting about the club's future strategy and their policy. Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all.

"I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days. Out of my huge respect for Mr Wenger, the players and the fans I don't want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal should move forward.

"I've thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.

"I love the club and the fans, no matter what happens. I have grown up and became a man during my time with Arsenal. Everybody at the club and the fans have always supported me over the years and I have always given my all (and more) on and off the pitch. I am very proud of being part of this fantastic club for the last eight years. As soon as Mr Gazidis is back from his two-week holiday in America further meetings will follow and I will update you if and when there are more developments."
Damning. Though I was hoping he'd sack up and publically blast their "let's make a profit and try to fall ass-backwards into a trophy" strategy.
