Post-Game Post Mortem - Penn State

Then he takes money from a booster, embarrassing the program and school alike...does NOTHING to earn his job back and is handed the starting job.

When tOSU loses, it is never to a better team. I am as much at fault for this belief as anyone. But had TS never played against texas, it would have been JT'S fault for not playing the man who slayed scUM. I am not saying he is a role model, or the better qb for that matter, I was just saying, that I, and most tOSU fans take these games so seriously that a loss= someone's fault.
that being said, the passion we all share is what makes tOSU the greatest football team in the land, college or pro!

I think we don't comment on the D as much is because we know and love them and they are great EVERY GAME. They make FEW mistakes in a season. Our offense is just flat out a joke. Im sick and tired of it. If JT fires that cronie Jim Bollman and hires an actually offensive coach and lets him have the offense, Ill jump back on the JT bandwagon.

Our defense is outstanding and it's a shame when they play such great games to have it wasted by our pathetic excuse for an offense.

The ONLY reason we will finish well this year is our DEFENSE!
Fortunately I don't think anyone else we play in the Big 10 this year will have a very good defense. If our O scores 17-24 points we should be able to win.
Although I can see a Northwestern/Michigan St. beating us 17-16 as a possibility.

I don't think Michigan has a chance unless we blow it. Their D sucks and the O is very average.

Maybe some are more conditioned to handling adversity, but we lost a tough game to a good team...plain and simple. If Vegas would let you place bets on a team after the first 3-5 minutes of the game, I think I'd be a rich man now. Penn State was fired up, their fans were rocking that stadium, and our offense couldn't seem to get comfortable. Are there problems? Absolutely. But, that's no reason for any of us "experts" to start bad-mouthing players. Unless you feel like somebody "threw" the game, then just try to come to grips with the fact that our guys went out there, tried to win, but came up short. They didn't want to lose, look bad, make mistakes, etc... There are lots of issues that need work.

I can understand what you are saying, I can tell you I wasn't one calling for Smith to play. I felt the man had to earn his spot back if he wanted it. You don't screw up and then say "ok coach Im ready to play"...

Oh, it sure is easy to second guess the qb choice after the game. 'I think Zwick should have started, he gets the ball off quicker", "Smith is a POS",
"Zwick should have been brought into the game". Uh, yea. Are you the same boneheads that were saying "Smith should have started and played the whole Texas game", "Smith should have been in because he is a much better runner than Zwick" ?

I think both bring good and bad to the team. Is it time for someone else to get a shot at some real minutes? Maybe. Who that would be, I'm not sure. We all hear about Boeckman in practice looking so good, but do we want him in just because he's the 3rd stringer and we already know what we have in #'s 1 and 2? With 2 losses now and the RB out of the question, maybe it wouldn't hurt to see TB get some minutes other than mop up.

Neither TS or JZ can seem to turn their heads to look for other open receivers.

Gonzo was non existant, and it certainly was not his fault.

Pittman wasn't bad. He just needs to get more than 15 carries. He's still going to get better, so he's definitely the right guy for the job. I'm not sold on Schnittker as the #2 guy. I'd like (as would everyone else) to see Haw get some carries to see what he can do. It certainly has to be better than BS.

The o-line gave Smith more than enough time most of the night.

The bottom line is the 2 turnovers killed us.

I will agree with the guy above that there were alot of non calls on our defensive guys that got held.. Off the top of my head I remember Hawk twice, Kudla twice and someone else. But, those plays didn't cost us the game. Penn St. just played better defense and got the 2 to's.

Yea, I'm po'd, but I'll get over it. I just don't understand our play on night games away from home.

Shut up with the Zwick should have played instead of Smith. After the Texas game almost of all of you would have said Smith is the best QB on the team. I think that a lot of you just go by the theory that the best QB on the team is the back up it doesn't matter who it is when we lose. To me Ginn should be benched if he doesn't want to attack up the field then I am sure some else on the team will. I am so sick of him running out of bounces or falling down any time he may get hit. He is at his best when he attacks up field and then makes some one miss.

You can keep your "I only have one reciever on the field" Troy Smith.

Ive heard comments tonite such as "I would trade every win just to beat michigan"

That is about the STUPIDEST thing a fan could say. Yeah Id go 1-10 every year as long as we beat michigan. Geezez cripes people.

I love beating michigan as much as the next person, but I want to win the game to win the game and improve our record and chances of a better bowl...not because of some vendeta against michigan. Granted its alot sweeter win than beating minnesota or Iowa or Indiana...but there is no way Id trade a good season just to beat michigan.

I never said I would consider it a good season at 1-10. But beating scUM is what I am most passionate about. In my opinion, it isnt a "good" season without a win over them. It took coop 13 years to learn that the hard way.

I can with an honest opinion say that Ive never wanted Smith to start. I don't like a QB that can't read a defense.
