Seems like the/a right hire and I love that both sides are obviously looking to the future.

With youth too. Laurinaitis, Hartline, Matt G, B Jordan… They are young and talented enough that they can stay, develop, and continue to promote from within. Love the direction of this program, very cut-throat but results-oriented.

Regarding Coach Jordan...from his MSU Bio

"Jordan, who has been in coaching since 2012, has specialized in training elite defensive linemen the past few years while serving as CEO of Brandon Jordan Trench Performance, working with more than 200 players on NFL rosters, including Pro Bowlers Jadeveon Clowney, Cameron Heyward, Chandler Jones, Von Miller and T.J. Watt."

Not a coach but his ties to recruiting is pretty significant. Looks like (CB ‘25) Devin Sanchez’s family is pretty close with Sam.

Lettermen Row’s Alex Gleitman reported Sunday that Sam Petitto, who was the director of personnel operations at Alabama, is joining Ohio State’s staff as director of player personnel. Petitto will serve as the lead assistant to general manager Mark Pantoni, replacing Marc Votteler, who left Ohio State after one year as its director of player personnel to become the associate athletic director of player personnel at Mississippi State.

It's not a matter of "liking" anyone.
It's well known Day mentors the #1 QB. That leaves Corey with the backups ... and... obviously not prepared.
McCord had 2 years and not developed. Brown doesn't look developed. Kienholz comes in and looks like a rusty HS kid.

We also need a dedicated playcaller, and Corey's spot is the obvious choice to free up.
He has the air of being Zach Smith without the toxic wife. That's enough to not be a distraction, but is it really enough to suck up a valuable coach spot?
Keep him around as an analyst to keep Urban happy, for all i care.
We need his spot for an playcaller and a capable QB coach, unless Day is going to do the whole room (once he gives up playcalling).
You can knock Zach Smith all you want for the off field nonsense, but I dare you to knock him as an actual WR coach. Go back and watch the 2014 season again, then watch '23. I guarantee that you will throw up in your mouth. Hartline is a 5* recruiter, and he can coach a route tree like no one else, but I have watched WAY too many lazy routes and lazy blocking from his unit over the past couple seasons.

The adage used to be that you couldn't get on the field at Ohio State as wide receiver unless you could block. Is MHJ a better pure receiver than basically anyone from the Urban era, sans Micheal Thomas? Resounding YES! Is he a better blocker than ANY of the WRs on that 2014 unit? NOPE!
