‘Bama DT Jonathan Taylor again arrested for domestic violence

jonathan-taylor-mugshot.png

After an alleged domestic violence incident led to his dismissal at Georgia last July, Jonathan Taylor signed with Alabama in January as one of Nick Saban‘s second-chance signees. Less than three months later, Taylor is making his new head coach look rather foolish and/or naïve.
.
.
At this moment, details of what led to the defensive tackle’s arrest have not been released. Taylor remains in jail in lieu of a pair of $500 bonds.

Taylor has been participating with his new Tide teammates in spring practice, even as his initial signing caused enough of a controversy that the school felt the need to address it in a statement. It would seem unlikely that Saban would allow the lineman to remain on his squad, not with two domestic violence arrests in less than a year littering his record, the first of which is still pending in the state of Georgia. Additionally, Taylor was one of four UGA players arrested last March on theft by deception charges.
.
.
Late Friday night, defensive back Geno Smith was arrested for driving under the influence. It was the senior’s second drunk-driving arrest in less than two years, prompting him to issue a public apology on Twitter.

After another arrest, Alabama gives Jonathan Taylor the boot

Not so unexpectedly, Alabama’s roster is a little lighter this Sunday afternoon.

In a statement sent out by the school just a short time ago, head coach Nick Saban announced that Jonathan Taylor has been dismissed from his football program. Taylor was arrested Saturday evening on domestic violence charges.

Uh it's his 2nd DUI, with his first coming before he was 21. I think only a couple game suspension is far too lenient for endangering lives in an irresponsible manner

I'm not sure I see a good reason to give Smith more than a couple games suspension. It's good to see Taylor get the boot; at least Bama handled that one right.

I take it you believe that repeatedly endangering lives while DUI is a relatively minor issue.

Being that he's a repeat offender, I'm all for a heavier punishment. That being said, the .08 limit is horseshit, and the crusade against drunk driving long ago crossed over into an unholy alliance of a religious crusade against social drinking and a revenue center for state and local governments. Notice that MADD doesn't even use the phrase "drunk driving" anymore and has substituted "drinking and driving" as well as now advocating a nationwide .05 limit. All this is a witch hunt considering that the overwhelming (something North of 85%) of injury and fatality crashes involving a drunk driver involve a repeat offender driving at at least twice the legal limit.

With the legal limit set at .08, I need to know what level was actually in someone's bloodstream before I'm ready to brand them a menace to society. At .05 it will be even worse.

BAC in driving is the new Scarlet Letter.

He was charged with attempting to drive while being run over by a 12 gauge shotgun....

I understand what you're saying but getting stopped more than once suggests that very likely he has DUI other times.

alex, I'd just like to say that I hope you're sticking around here for a while. You need to get knapp back over here too. You guys have a job to do, and that's Fuck Bucky. I want Buckeye/Husker B1G Championship games. Blue Bloods. I wish we could have played you guys in '95. Don't think we would have won because we had a Coach John Cooper, but our players were as good as its ever been in college football in my imo...

Thanks. I'd love to take you up on the championship game offer, but unfortunately, we're flapping in the wind like a broke dick dog right now.

For obvious reasons, Knapp has been fighting back the mobs of angry Husker fans over on the board he's a mod on. Needless to say, he's been busy as hell deleting threads and busting posters....
