James Quick and Kentucky's Jason Hatcher (HS teammates at Trinity) got busted for pot. Quick had 39.5 g and Hatcher about a blunt's worth (2.5 g). Petrino is in charge so I expect Quick will get to know the Papa Johns Stadium steps quickly but not much further in terms of discipline. I believe this is Hatcher's second strike so Stoops may sit him.

Funny how two scrub players get dismissed from the team. But yet Winston is still playing for Florida State. Makes you go hmmm.
And TTU's immediate response:Former Texas Tech football player Nigel Bethel will not be charged in connection with a June 28 incident where he punched a women’s basketball player, leading to his dismissal from the team, as first reported by KCBD-TV in Lubbock.
The report, citing Bethel’s attorney, stated the blue-chip recruit was “cleared” by a Lubbock grand jury.
Bethel, a highly regarded cornerback recruit out of Miami, Fla., was enrolled in summer classes at the time of the incident.
Both Bethel and his attorney, Tray Payne, took to Twitter, hoping that Bethel could be reinstated to the university.
Texas Tech spokesman Blayne Beal told the Dallas Morning News in an email Tuesday night that it stands by its original statement, which emphasized “zero tolerance of this type of behavior.”
Freshman defensive back will miss the first three games of his first season
Freshman defensive back Nigel Bethel has been reinstated to the Texas Tech Football program after being initially dismissed from the team for his role in an incident at the Texas Tech Student Recreation Center on June 28.
"This is an unfortunate situation with a unique set of circumstances and there are no winners," said Kirby Hocutt, Director of Athletics. "Every decision related to this case has been the right one at that particular time based upon our principles, student-athlete code of conduct and team rules. As I continued to work with Coach Kingsbury and Coach Whitaker, we looked at the totality of the situation and have arrived at this decision. Two talented young people made a mistake, have shown remorse and learned some very valuable life lessons."
The stipulations of his reinstatement call for him to miss 25 percent (three games) of his first season.

Ex-NFL QB Jim Harbaugh arrested for drunken driving
November 2, 2005
ENCINITAS, Calif. (AP) -- University of San Diego football coach Jim Harbaugh was arrested early Sunday on a charge of drunken driving after being stopped for running a stop sign.
Harbaugh, a former NFL quarterback, was released after 7 1/2 hours at the Vista Detention Facility. He is to appear in court in December.
``I'm upset at myself about it, and more embarrassed for everyone else around me, the team,'' Harbaugh said Wednesday. ``My No. 1 concern is the players. I'm trying to set a good example for them. There's a consequence for making poor decisions and now that applies to me.''
Harbaugh said he told the team about his arrest.
``I'm going to work every day from this day on to turn it into a positive,'' he said. ``That's not the script I would write to make a positive statement, but that's what I'll work to do.''
Harbaugh is in his second season as coach of the non-scholarship, Division I-AA Toreros. USD is 8-1 and won the Pioneer Football League North Division last Saturday with a 63-21 victory at Valpariso. The Toreros will host Morehead State in the PFL championship game on Nov. 19.
The school issued a statement Wednesday that read: ``Allegations of this nature are indeed very serious, however, it would be inappropriate for the university to make any comments on Coach Harbaugh's situation, especially since the matter is not yet resolved. It is the university's practice not to discuss personnel matters publicly.''
Harbaugh will be on the sideline for Saturday night's home game against Chapman.
