Police/Legal Blotter (stop breaking the law, asshole!)

A Virginia State football player faces assault charges after a bathroom fight left Winston-Salem State's starting quarterback badly beaten during a luncheon for both teams on the eve of their championship game.
Both Division II schools say the CIAA canceled the title game set for Saturday in Winston-Salem.
Virginia State player Lamont Britt was arrested Friday and charged with misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury.
Winston-Salem State chancellor Donald Reaves said quarterback Rudy Johnson was "viciously beaten by one or more members of the Virginia State football team." The Winston-Salem Journal, citing multiple anonymous sources, reported that five Virginia State players were involved. Reaves said police were trying to identify the other Virginia State players.

Louisville Commit Arrested After Allegedly Impregnating His Cousin

wptv595.jpg

Sharieff Rhaheed-Muhammad, a Florida HS linebacker who recently committed to Louisville, was arrested yesterday and charged with a felony count of lewd lascivious behavior. He's accused of fathering a child with his 14-year-old cousin, who later got an abortion.

The girl said Rhaheed-Muhammad, a three-star recruit from Fort Pierce (Fla.) Central High School, did not force himself on her and that "it just happened." According to the police report, he tried again later and she refused.

After she told her mother, the pregnancy was aborted in November. Rhaheed-Muhammad, 17, refused to provide a DNA sample. So one was obtained via a search warrant at his school, and it showed a nearly 100 percent chance that he was the father.

Walmart food caper nets Wazzu player an arrest

Three separate incidents in a little over a month have resulted in the arrests of two Washington State football pla… check, that, make it four incidents and three players in that same time span.

The latest Cougar to find himself on the wrong side of the law — and squarely in head coach Mike Leach‘s doghouse — is defensive tackle Austin Brown, who according to theMoscow-Pullman Daily News was arrested late last Friday night at a local Walmart. Brown was charged with third-degree theft, with the items allegedly stolen being valued at a little over $50.

Those items, the Daily Evergreen wrote, included “ two gallons of milk, a bag of potato chips, strudel pastries, and a box of frozen corn dogs.” The student paper went on to point out that “the groceries were still in Brown’s vehicle at the time of his arrest.”

People stealing to get food to eat is always embarrassing.

If I remember all 800 pages of Les Miserables, it started with someone stealing food to feed his sister's kids.

This may end up as fodder in the class action lawsuit. Mike Leach makes $2 million:

Someone once said "let them eat cake", but this guy isn't allowed to do that.

For the record, I don't condone theft.

People have been known to steal food to eat and spend their money on dope, tats, big screen TVs, amusement parks, and a thousand other things that should not have as high of a priority. Stealing food does not necessarily mean you don't have money to eat. Sometimes it means you choose to spend your money elsewhere and can then justify stealing food.

Exactamundo, Ringo! These guys have training table during the season, and full-fledged meal plans for the rest of the year. If he was living off-campus, he gets a subsidy for food and rent. Besides, "potato chips, strudel patries and frozen corn dogs" doesn't strike me as the shopping list of somebody on a subsistence diet.

Sounds like what you buy when you are high. More of a substance abuse diet, I would think.

Four Georgia football players arrested on theft charges
By Seth Emerson

[email protected] 18, 2014 Updated 1 hour ago

ATHENS - Four Georgia football players, including safety Tray Matthews, were arrested Monday night on multiple charges of theft by deception.

Three of the players are charged with what amounts to double-dipping: Each allegedly took normal stipend checks from UGA and deposited them via a mobile ap, and then also cashed them somewhere else, according to UGA chief of police Jimmy Williamson. A fourth player is charged with taking his rommates' deposited stipend check and cashing it.

The UGA athletics department detected the checks clearing twice and contacted the UGA police, Williamson said.

The four players were released on bond Monday night, with bond at $1,500 per charge. Misdemeanor theft means the charge is for stealing something less than $500 per charge.
