Alabama cornerback Geno Smith landed in some legal trouble over the weekend. According to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, the sophomore cornerback was arrested and charged with driving under the influence early Sunday morning.
The Tuscaloosa News first reported news of the arrest. At this time, the school has not made a statement regarding Smith's status in light of the arrest.
Smith appeared in 13 games for the Crimson Tide as a freshman in 2012, recording nine tackles and two pass breakups. The Atlanta native was expected to compete for a starting job and see more action at the nickel cornerback position in 2013

Buffs RB arrested following mud-rubbing incident with girlfriend

There have been more than a few bizarre arrests involving college football players over the years, and this latest legal entanglement certainly ranks right up there on the WTF scale.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera, Colorado running back Terrence Crowder was arrested very early Sunday morning following an incident involving his girlfriend. Crowder was charged with domestic violence, third-degree assault and harassment.

The incident that led to Crowder’s legal issues began at 2:30 a.m. local time Sunday when the back went to his girlfriend’s residence and she looked at his phone, becoming upset when she saw texts from an ex-girlfriend. The alleged victim subsequently packed up some of Crowder’s belongings and escorted the player out of her apartment.

This is where things took a kindergarten turn as, over the next several minutes, Crowder allegedly threw small rocks at the woman, attempted to trip her and rubbed mud in her hair and pulled her hair. No information was available as to whether Crowder also accused the woman of having cooties.

Michigan suspends A.J. Williams

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan sophomore tight end A.J. Williams will serve a one-game suspension for a violation of team rules.

A news release from Michigan announced that Williams would not play against Michigan State.

Williams, 19, was arrested Sunday morning after failing to stop at a stop sign in Oxford, Ohio, and charged with operation of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and underage drinking, The Blade in Toledo, Ohio, reported.

Williams registered a .122 blood-alcohol level in an on-site breath exam, Oxford police told The Blade.

Williams has appeared in 19 games for the Wolverines, making four starts. His game snaps likely will be picked up by freshman tight end Jake Butt or redshirt junior Jordan Paskorz.

"It's certainly disappointing when one of your kids makes a very poor decision," coach Brady Hoke said in the team's statement. "A.J. realizes he has let a lot of people down, including himself. As families do, we will help A.J. as he learns a valuable lesson from this."

Collins, 21, was pulled over at the intersection of Burlington and Johnson streets by Iowa City police and had a preliminary breath test of .137, well beyond the .08 legal limit. He also was ticketed for driving under suspension.

Collins was driving a 200 Lexus RX 300 without his tail lights on. A police officer observed Collins with watery, bloodshot eyes. According to a police complaint, Collins forgot to put the vehicle in park when he exited. The car rolled into the police vehicle, but it caused no damage. Initially he said he wasn’t drinking but later admitted to six or seven drinks. He was released Friday from the Johnson County Jail on his own recognizance.
