They don't think that deep though. All they see is SEC!!! and specifically ITS ALABAMA!!!

The thinking operates differently when it's SEC team. They don't care that Tennessee got blown out by South Carolina and that LSU got beat pretty good by a 5-7 Texas A&M team. For Bama it will be used what Tennessee and LSU were ranked & what they were when Bama played the games against them. Of course they will never ever just admit that those 2 teams really aren't as good as they were made out to be at times. The "criteria" is always morphed to favor certain teams, itll be a fucking mental gymnastics Olympics with them trying to push them into the playoff now.

Yeah this is my problem with most Rankings...

LSU is Penn State at best at this point. But they will just look at Bama and go they lost too a Great LSU and Tennessee teams by combined 6 points and never revaluate that after it turns out maybe those teams are just merely good not great

Well we will find out tomorrow.

If Alabama is behind Ohio State (which they will be) then it's over.

Bama could beat the "#1" team in week 1, said "#1" week 1 team could go 6-6 and they would still be touting it like Bama beat the #1 team and should get credit for such at the end of the season. This has been a SEC logic talking point for years now. This is part of how they keep propping up the SEC. There is no re-evaluating. If you beat Florida in week 4 when Florida is 3-0 and ranked, even if Florida goes 6-6 it is still propped up as a "QUALITY WIN!" because they were "undefeated and ranked at the time!"

Yeah I'd rather lose in the playoffs by 20 then win a safe bowl and feel better about myself. Fuck that noise. Sure the rosebowl last year was fun but it's not like winning that game got us anything this year
