USC loses and we’re in.

That’s our only path IMO
I think TCU gets beat by Kansas State and USC wins.

You'd have to think it goes UGA, Michigan, USC and then Ohio State. There's no way they jump Alabama ahead of Ohio State so really if 1 of 2 teams lose we are in.

I want to get in personally. Only because at least the next game means something then and maybe our better players play as well.

I also think Michigan is a better team than Georgia this year. I think their defense doesn't take risks like Georgia and I think up front their OL/RB are much better than Georgia too. Would we win? I mean probably not but I think it'd be a good game.

Alabama has played better than us even though two losses.
I don’t buy that. tOSU led the nation in victory margin before yesterday. And who has Bama beaten - nobody except Texas and mid-level SEC teams.

tOSU won on the road at #8 (in the new polls) Penn State. Buckeyes also beat Notre Dame, who is as good as any of Bama’s victims. Bama has not defeated a single SEC team with a winning conference record. And they played FCS Austin Peay, and they were two yards away from losing to 7-loss aTm.

Buckeyes only have 1 loss, and Bama has two. Virtually every voter in the AP and coaches polls that came out today ranked tOSU at #5 and Bama at #6.

It would be another ESPN injustice if Bama gets ranked ahead of tOSU in the CFP thing on Tuesday.

That'll tell everything. If Ohio State is ahead of Alabama on Tuesday they really can't jump Alabama ahead of Ohio State in the final placing. Also both Alabama and Ohio State lost to top 10 teams. Only difference is Alabama lost twice. They aren't comparable because Alabama has that extra loss.

Also that would set up another Georgia Alabama game which we've seen a lot over the last 5 years. UGA vs OSU is different and it's two different conferences.

Alabama played better in their two losses than OSU did in their one loss. But OSU has played better in their wins. No last second field goal to beat Texas or goal line stand to beat aTM.

And the UM loss was a one score game well into the 4th quarter. The score does not indicate how close the game was.

Yep. I was completely shocked to see Bama still behind us in the AP/Coaches. First time in our lives that's probably happened since all the way back before the BCS started. Any time you get a chance to lace them up, you've technically got a chance besides we do pretty well out of the 4 spot.

Soon we won't be having this discussion. When it goes to 12, yesterday will matter even less to our NIL inspired new reality. When it's 12, the Buckeyes and Alabama are both in.

This. We are witnessing the end of The Game as we know it.

The winner take all at the end of the year part is over as soon as they bring the next two teams in, go divisionless and expand the playoffs.

It will always be important but never quite the same.

It's why the Cooper 2.0 talk is missing the mark for me. It's just not the same calculus anymore.

I don’t see how an expanded playoff field changes anything. You are ok with losing to them as long as we can still back into a 12 team playoff? That’s what we are going to get a lot of with this guy imo.

That “oh shit” look on his face when things get tight plays out in CFP games too (where he has a Cooper-Esque 1-2 record so far).

Not trying to start another Ryan Day thread but the trend of his tenure isn’t positive. It’s been 4 years now. If he was the guy people hoped he was it would have shown by now.
