I don’t see how an expanded playoff field changes anything. You are ok with losing to them as long as we can still back into a 12 team playoff? That’s what we are going to get a lot of with this guy imo.

That “oh shit” look on his face when things get tight plays out in CFP games too (where he has a Cooper-Esque 1-2 record so far).

Not trying to start another Ryan Day thread but the trend of his tenure isn’t positive. It’s been 4 years now. If he was the guy people hoped he was it would have shown by now.
So you're saying he might've been born on 3rd base?

In fairness, it took Coop 11 years to play in three bowl games of that level, and by that time he'd already lost 3 Citrus Bowls, 2 Hall of Fame Bowls, and a Liberty Bowl.

I was getting at the fact that Coops big game dazed and confused act was always in both games at the end of the year. Not just The Game.

It's not like Day is going to magically unfuck himself, his staff or his team just because the the other team doesn't have a winged helmet.

Day's coached in 4 NY6 bowls in 3 years and went 2-2. They smoked Clemson in one and fought back to win when it woulda been real easy to quit against Utah. We didn't really see any of that play calling or chutzpah carry over to 2022 though, especially in the second half of the season.

He's fucked the last two Michigan games, and needs to figure out how to unfuck that immediately, but I'm not seeing the same thing here you are.

My post didn't have anything to do with what I, personally, find acceptable. Just recognizing certain realities. As you said, the Rivalry as we know it is over.

I see the same offensive tightness in 2019 against Clemson and it makes me pretty certain that it's a Day thing.

The Utah game means nothing imo. Flag football against a team that couldn't even field a scholarship CB. Of course his ZOMG passing game was good then. Two years running now, when his offense faces a team with a defensive pulse it gets slowed down considerably.

We didn't see that against Clemson in 2020 though, so he has it in him. That's what I thought we'd get Saturday. And we did, briefly, before he puckered.

The question is, what brings it out, and can he get it back. Did he not trust Stroud the way he trusted Fields? Or is it a deeper issue.

I am in the "deeper issue" camp. Firmly.
