It’s pretty simple:

#1- Georgia
#2 - Michigan
#3 - TCU
#4 - USC

If TCU or USC lose, we slide in as #4 seed against UGA.

If both lose we slide into #3 seed for a rematch with Michigan.

If both win we are in Rose Bowl against a shitty opponent most likely.

Sucks Taivon Thomas is sitting out rest of season….bruising RB that is very good for Utah. They have some depth there but I’d feel better about their chances with him playing.

Kansas State has a legit shot at TCU as well. Will Howard has opened up their passing game (although Adrian Martinez was effective in a run heavy scheme earlier this season). Kansas State is pretty effective in shootouts or low scoring affairs. I think this is the more likely upset even though Utah already beat USC earlier this year.

As bad as we looked Saturday I’d still love a playoff invite. We’d get the benefit of a few weeks off to get healthy and hopefully work towards fixing some of our more glaring issues.

1000% agree. Could be matched up with ttun faster than people think.

And who has Bama beaten - nobody except Texas and mid-level SEC teams.

And by all rights, their Texas win is heavily tainted by the officiating. That was handed to them on a silver platter.

That said, if we cant beat that team or go to Indy... do we deserve it?
I'd rather not see also-rans in the playoffs.
At least win your division to go.

Yeah we don't deserve to go over TCU or USC if they win... but do we deserve to go over Alabama or TCU if they don't win? Hell yeah we do.

4 teams have to go...

My purist feeling is that i would still send a PAC, little10, or ACC division champ that lost in a 13th game over a team that wasn't even close and dodged the Championship game.
That was my feeling in 2012, 2018, and now.

Oh for sure and I get it...

Then again should Ohio State be punished because the #2 team in the nation is in the same division in the same conference? If the objective is the best 4 then I think they'll select the Bucks over TCU should they lose.

Mind you I'm saying all of this only in the context should TCU or USC lose.

You'd send a 2-loss Clemson team that got absolutely destroyed by Notre Dame? A team we beat.

Or a 2 loss USC (if they were to lose to Utah a second time)?
Or a TCU team if they lose to a 3 loss Kansas State?

This is the rare year where the BCS would've been perfect and UGA and Michigan just play for the title.

But it's a 4 team playoff and 4 teams need to go. tOSU is in with a better resume than TCU or USC should they lose their Conference Title games.

We bring money and ratings and the possibility of a playoff game between OSU and Michigan is too big for the playoff to ignore. If either TCU or USC lose, we're in.
Money and ratings don't matter as much as some people proclaim, or else everyone out in medialand wouldn't be pushing for regional matchups of multiple SEC teams in the playoff every season.

That said, the ACC has no chance no matter what. So, if either USC (out for sure if they lose) or TCU (likely out if they lose) drop a game this weekend, it's between us and Alabama. And I know people don't want to hear it...but there will be a monster push from the media at large to put Alabama in ahead of us if that's the case.

Yep. Bama has beaten no one worth a damn. But they will go strong with the "THEY LOST BY 4 POINTS TOTAL ON THE ROAD TO 2 TOP 15 TEAMS!!" argument and twist it that those should basically only count as 1 loss for Bama and are better than Ohio State's 22 point home loss to scUM (a top 2 team)

Ohio State also does not have anywhere near the same benefit of the doubt clout as Bama does. Now past success SHOULD NOT matter when it comes to the current year, but you can bet your ass the "oh it's Bama!" thought is in those people making the decisions heads. People would act shocked, but it really won't be shocking at all if they put Bama in ahead of us if it came down to it.

I don't think it necessarily matters in a debate of OSU vs. USC or Alabama. But I think it matters in comparison to TCU.

Oh fuck him then... dead to me if that's the case.

A 2 loss team who should've lost to Texas and Texas AM?

Go fuck yourself Kirk.

It's stupid but completely predictable. ESPN is in way too deep pocket wise with the SEC NOT to completely and obnoxiously try to push Bama into the playoff. The argument will be that Bama would only maybe have 1 loss with Ohio State's schedule and it's "not fair" to penalize Bama too much for losing 2 SEC road games to top 15 teams by 1 and 3 (Even though LSU and Tennessee have both been exposed as not that great) while completely ignoring that Bama really has not beaten anyone worth a crap.

Well they have 2 losses... one to a team that got destroyed by South Carolina.

There's no basis for Alabam jumping Ohio State.

If they're behind Ohio State on Tuesday its over.
