PG P.J. Hill (BK JEKABPILS- Latvia)

I think that, without PJ, we would have lost the Iowa game.
You could say that about PJ , who did have a whale of a game but you could also apply that to several others who also contributed "game winning " performances of one type or another.

Sweet block in the scUM game! Cannot believe they called that goaltending! You got ripped PJ.

Love his passion on defense and his flying hair!

On a side note, the few times I've seen PJ shoot a 3, his shot hasn't looked bad. Hard to get it to fall though when he only takes one a game. (I'm not lobbying for more shots for PJ, I'm just stating that he doesn't look like a terrible shooter. Somehow I had it in my head that the kid must be terrible to have never played last year or early this year.)

He uses what he's got and leaves it all out there. I love the kids that are willing to come in and play their role. Great team player!

I kept telling you guys about PJ in the off season...He is the hardest working kid on the team...And no one plays harder than him out there on the floor...

I hate hte cliche if your stars played like the 8th man then the team would be great...

But watch Hill he fights harder for loose balls than anyone on the team, he will stick his nose in there and fight for rebounds against the bigs...

He still has work to be done on dribbling, attacking the rim, and shooting, but if he continues to work he will bring good things the rest of the season and on into next year...

Yeah and its really good to see PJ hit a jumper early, it really seems to give him some confidence. He still scares me at times because he's almost timid with the basketball and opponents sense his lack of security and pressure him even harder, but he had an excellent game tonight and I love to see him scrap for rebounds. Thad showed a lot of confidence in him playing him down the stretch when the game was on the line, it was good to see the coaching staff thinks he is improving. He really played pretty well against Michigan State as well I thought.

I'm really pleased with PJ's effort and energy this season. PJ has helped to somewhat alleviate an area of weakness (perimeter defense) on this team without Lighty. I think he got credited for an assist that was actually made by Buford (box score says Buford didn't get credit for the flip pass to Diebler for 3 late in the game, and ESPN play-by-play says Hill assisted on that shot), but Hill did a pretty good job other than the TO that tied the game at 64.

I know that I was one of those guys:confused: who questioned you about Hill and now I have to take it all back. I have always loved his intensity on defense but offensively I always thought he was a liability and he is starting to prove me wrong. Sometimes, he does need to settle down a little on offense.

It makes me wonder why he wasn't getting much playing time before the Big 10 season began. I know that that other guy:eek: was here but the way P.J. is playing now that other guy was not that much better to get that many more minutes. Just makes you wonder if Matta was trying to send a message to Hill. It's just very strange.

BN Free Bucknuts.com - Enthusiastic Hill Is Driving Force For Buckeyes

There is more than one way to be a leader on the team, and Ohio State point guard P.J. Hill is an excellent example of acting as a leader both on and off the court. The junior from Minneapolis has had to step up as a leader this year on a very young Buckeye basketball team, and part of that role is always being ready to play.

?The opportunity has definitely come for me,? said the 6-1 Hill. ?I meet with Coach Pete (OSU assistant Dan Peters) before every game and he just says, ?You know what you?ve got to do.? We work out extra before and after practice with coach Brandon Miller and he says how you?re going to be expected to step in at anytime.

"That?s the duty and the downside of playing in the position I?m in. Some games I might get thrown in the fire for the whole half like I did against Michigan State and some games, I just come in sporadically to get Jeremie (Simmons) a break, so I definitely got to be ready.?
As an experienced player, Hill recognizes that the both the successes and failures of the team on the court can fall on the shoulders of the point guard, calling the position the ?direct extension? of the coach on the floor.

The job of leading this team is not an easy one, as Hill knows watching the coaching staff in action.

Great game by PJ today...his confidence seems to build with every game. Big 3 pointer down the stretch and huge putback on the Turner miss at the end.

Very nice watching him have the confidence to step up and hit some shots! And he obviously never lacks in his defensive effort. Way to go PJ!

I agree...He is stepping up to take the PG role...If he continues to work as hard as he does, harder than anyone on the team, he will be the starting PG here next year, and if we can get some guys to stay we should have a good team next year...
