Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

From that thread:

"Discovery is coming, it will not be stopped, and it likely will not be pretty. It's too late to lecture people about moving on."

See this is what I don't get (check that, one thing I don't get)...27 is right last page, they are likely not going to find anything on Joe, one way or the other. But that doesn't mean "Discovery is coming" of exoneration, it means nothing is going to be found. What the hell do these people think is going to happen? I mean, no matter how ridiculous it might be, I can usually at least interpret what I think people are expecting...but I can't here. The only thing that could "restore" anything is if they find out that every single victim made the whole thing up entirely and that Sandusky was COMPLETELY innocent. Short of that, nothing, NOTHING, will restore the legacy of Paterno in the eyes of the nation. Nothing.

Not just that every single "victim" (OWYWTCT) was lying, and that old Jer was a stand up, grown-woman-exclusively lovin' guy, but ALSO that Mike McQ lied, or wholly misinterpreted what he saw, AND that Joe was never told about it. Because even if everyone else was lying, if Joe was told there was abuse happening and did not pursue it, I think it still plays out the same way re public opinion. I mean, he never claimed to be psychic as well as a saint and the greatest football coach of all time, did he? So if he heard about it, he should have had it reported and investigated, to determine if it was true or not.

If I can get inside the head of those mongoloids for a second I believe they think deposing Emmert, Freeh and Erickson will show that the three of them (along with the other BOT villains) conspired to throw JoePed under the bus (as well as Curley, Schultz and Spanier). At least that is the angle that the Paterno faction along with PS4RS, Ziegler and Blehar are all espousing.

There was a point at which many people over there were willing to concede that Curley, Schultz and Spanier effed up. They were somehow able to compartmentalize JoePed out of the equation because it was a screw up that had nothing to do with football. But as time has gone on, they are universally of the opinion that all 4 are not guilty of anything. It was all one big mix up. I guess they started to see that the only way JoePed was gonna get his wins and rep back was to have everyone innocent.

Interested in @ORD_Buckeye 's thoughts on the new Pres.

Honestly, no idea. I don't think he's a home run hire and pales in comparison with our (Chancellor of a UC campus) and Michigan's (Provost at Brown) hires. We'll see how he handles the cult, which isn't going to be easy since he's going to be stuck with a football coach who seems to be doing everything in his power to fan the flames of the cult.

Oh heck..let me condense this Opinion piece down to facts:

No doubt, the storyline of corruption and negligence among the Executive Cabal of the PSU Trustees is a CONSTANT TALE.

First, with Rodney Erickson they installed a Neville Chamberlain-like character. Paid handsomely to shield the Board from Alumni and Community anger.

Secondly, the board decided to step up and hire the highly controversial failed former FBI chief Louis Freeh, with pressure from Gov. Corbett, to produce a paid narrative, shifting all focus from The Second Mile and Centre County Children & Youth. Licensed entities that failed miserably in their oversight in this debacle & allowed access to minors by a PCSO.

Third, the board unwisely leaned on Kenneth Frazier who knows damned well how a GJP is done in the State of Pennsylvania, and should have thrown the BS flag on Linda Kelly.

Former Chair Karen Peetz was observed beating it in a defensive retreat from the July 13, 2012 BoT meeting (the day after Freeh burned down the University in his presser), hiding in an empty media room and hotfooting it out the back door with Erickson to a remote parking lot.
