Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

A few posts above the wall of text:
I am not moving on either. I want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

No, you don't. You want to believe what you want to believe, and will refuse to open your eyes or your ears when people say something else.
I think a lot of people are like this, myself included. But it's fun to laugh at cults.

He won 9 games back-to-back years at Vandy...that's impressive no matter how you cut it. That would be the equivalent of doing that at Indiana with higher academic standards. The man can coach. The challenge he faces is that those scholarship restrictions are gonna really start to kick in over the next couple of seasons. He has the QB, but the rest of the roster is going to be really short on depth. O'Brien didn't deal with that issue. He was smart to bail when he did. USC proved you can still field a pretty decent team as long as you recruit talented players with the 'ships you have, but the lack of depth prevents you from fielding a truly "elite" kind of team.

(impressive) I thought that at first. Then I looked at their schedule out of conference and saw a bunch of cupcakes(remember, they dropped OSU). Scheduling helped them big time! So, just how good is he? Can he repeat what O'Brien did? Can he put up with the "cult"? The dysfunction of the BOT? The scholarship restrictions and no Bowl games? That's a tall order for any coach.

Without having clicked on the link yet, I can only guess that the poster in question is the most eloquent of posters over there, the esteemed Bushwood C.C.
You would be "right" about that, wow, you really had your "nose to the grindstone" there and came up with a "barn burner" of a guess. When the going got tough, you went "all in" and made a correct "assessment".

They not only dropped tOSU, they also dropped Northwestern in order order to water down their schedule. Of course, they dropped tOSU and Northwestern for 2013 right after Northwestern beat them in 2012.

While you have employed the minimum required number of "" per paragraph, sadly your response is 412 lines short of a true Bushwood.

The schedule is a fair point. But he still won more there than any coach has. As for the cult...he seems to be pandering to them so far, so I don't see that being an issue with him. Given what we know about his personality through media quips, he seems to be the perfect fit for that insane asylum.

Eh, they were willing to work a man pole for Balderdash O'Ballslap at one point as well.

Lets see if they are still one big retard-happy bunch when Sheriff Bart starts losing.

Yeah, that'll be the thing. There was a good-sized faction on their boards that were starting to turn on turning on BOB after a 7-5 season this year. If they aren't happy at 7-5, the honeymoon could be pretty short-lived. However, working in Franklin's favor is how dreadful the B1G is right now. If he can recruit enough talent to field a strong starting lineup, he could easily win 8-9 games a year there through the roughest part of these sanctions. If he is a good HC, and can make the most of the schollies he has, that's very doable. If it was smoke and mirrors at Vandy, he could collapse under the weight of the schollie restrictions. Will be interesting to watch play out.
