Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Ya think?

Joe Paterno had to be prodded by his family to read the grand jury report regarding Jerry Sandusky and did not understand some of its graphic terminology, according to a new book.

According to the book, the two (Paterno & Sandusky) were never friendly

Really. Never friendly. BWI won't even buy that.

And by really good OSU defense, did he mean possibly the worst in the previous ten years?

Actually, it was our second worst total defense since 2003:

2003 - 10th
2004 - 30th
2005 - 5th
2006 - 12th
2007 - 1st
2008 - 14th
2009 - 5th
2010 - 4th
2011 - 19th

Believe it or not, our stellar 2002 defense was actually ranked 23rd in total defense. We were 2nd in scoring defense, 3rd in rushing defense, and 95th in passing defense.

Audibles comment on Fagnano:

He was a great player his senior year in HS. Pretty sure he lead the Wyoming Valley Conference in receptions his senior year

This is Penn State trying to generate excitement about their latest player.

They don't need to lose to OU. They know. In their tiny little hearts they know.

Wasn't JoePed a fucking classics major at Brown, and he's trying to pretend he doesn't know what Sodomy is?

Yet, remarkably, he knows what "omniscient" means. That there is a ten cent word.

The book quotes Paterno as shouting "I'm not omniscient!"

By the way, Posanski just took his first step along the Orson Welles sad pathway of irrelevance. Just like Welles finished his life hawking frozen peas and cheap wine, Posanski seems destined to write fluff pieces for Scranton Daily Shopper and Peoria Sell and Trade.

Isn't the entire defensive backfield a collection of unproven underclassmen and walk-ons?

[TUGSPEEDWELL]You take a broken catcher playing in the Mexican league, add a third baseman worried about his looks, a rookie phenom with a Ryan Duran fastball and a problem throwing strikes, toss in a voodoo doctor first baseman and a totally unknown Willy Mays Hayes, bundle it up with a cranky, old school manager, a lusty owner looking to put the Nittany Lions in Philly where she draw more than dick and top it off with a cutie pie Meg Ryan look alike and you got yourself a 12 and 0 NC championship without even going to the game.

But all the doubters on the Ohio State board only wanna say, "They look like shit." [/Tugspeedwell]

Sorry for getting off topic for a second but...

That is CRAZY, given the talent we had in the defensive backfield. Doss, Nickey, Gamble, Fox, Salley, Will Allen. Not to mention the pass rush we had too.

I would have never guessed we were that low in Passing Defense

Look at who they played that year...

washington state and Texas Tech threw the ball a ton

Purdue was still in the basketball on grass phase

that defense was excellent at bending but not breaking. after seeing the rushing totals, the yards other teams were gaining was almost exclusively through the air.
