JFC. So reading between the lines, he clearly ALSO believes the punishment wasn't warranted.

Holy fuck.

IMHO, that's not how I took that statement. I think that he figured that if the NCAA would be poking around, that they'd find more stuff that may warrant the death penalty. Not to mention, the NCAA wanted their pound of flesh, and he served up the school along with Joe Pa.

I think the guy is smart. They pay $60 millie (which they probably have in the bank) over 4 years, give some $$$ to charity, and fight through the scholarship sanctions and postseason bans.

Or we face the death penalty. No money for the time we're punished, and we'd STILL probably face harsh other sanctions along with it that would kill the school permanently.

I think the guy was between a rock, and a bronze statue.

Watching a previously recorded clip on BTN, they interviewed a student who said something to the effect of...
"To be honest, I'm pretty disconnected from what goes on from the football team. My experience here has been great and I'm still a proud Penn Stater."
Good for her. They are going to need a lot more students and alumni to start thinking that way for their university to recover from this.

The funny thing also is this....

Everybody is talking about how the Freeh report isn't fact, blah blah blah. And they're whining about due process blah blah blah.

But who paid for the Freeh report?

The Pennsylvania State University Board of Trustees.

Former FBI director Freeh to conduct independent investigation
Monday, November 21, 2011

Freeh to lead impartial and comprehensive assessment of University's actions, governance, protocols, decision-making and oversight
People with relevant information encouraged to call newly-established hotline
Findings and recommendations to be made public

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. ? The special committee of The Pennsylvania State University Board of Trustees announced today (Nov. 21) that it has engaged former FBI Director and federal judge Louis J. Freeh to lead an independent investigative review into all aspects of the University?s actions with regard to the allegations of child abuse involving a former Penn State employee contained in the recent Grand Jury report. The special committee and Freeh said that the findings and recommendations of this work, when completed, will be made available to the public. No specific timeframe has been set for completion of the review.

The cult can stop whining about the report now. They all paid for it.

Alex above you is dead on. They accepted and moved on because they know there is a lot more that could hurt the program if the NCAA kept looking.

Freeh was only looking at the cover up of the Sandusky stuff, and nothing more. I am sure if he were to have investigated the whole football department for anything else that could have been covered up, they would not have a football program today.

They can think all of this is unjustified because the FACTS have not all been revealed. Be careful what you wish for pedsters.

1. You refused to believe Sandusky was guilty, you promised us he would be acquitted. You were wrong 40+ times.

2. With the convictions, you then refused to acknowledge that anyone, including Dear Leader, at the school knew anything about this, even as reports started to surface to the contrary.

3. You were elated that an investigation was being done by an ex-FBI director so that Dear Leader and the school would be shown pure and innocent in the cover-up. You were wrong, really wrong.

4. You now deny that anything in the Freeh report is correct (yet you were basically singing the mans praises at the beginning since he was your hope to vindicate Dear Leader) even though there are emails, notes, and whatnot that show these people were involved in a cover -up.

5. You told us all that the NCAA had no bearing on this now, since it really wasn't a football, or Penn State, problem. You were again wrong.

How many times are you going to be proven wrong, pedsters? Seriously, it would be best if you all just silently sulk and take what is coming your way. No matter how loud you scream, or HOW MANY TIME YOU USE CAPS AND EXCLAMATION MARKS (!!!!!!!), your jaded and blind view of actual reality is getting tiresome.

Open your eyes, take a deep breath, and realize how stupid it is for you to keep defending The Penn State Way.
