okay. so i start looking at their "unclaimed titles." the first one i research is the most recent one: 1981.

psu goes 10-2. clemson goes 12-0 after beating georgia (who finishes #6), unc (who finishes #9), and nebraska in the orange bowl (who finishes #11).

yeah, psu clearly deserves championship recognition. i'm sure they were the victim of another anti-psu conspiracy waged by the writers and coaches.

i know that many programs claim dubious championships whose rationale fail when under the microscope. but, i mean, at least claim titles that have a shred of justification. i'd continue parsing through their other so-called unclaimed titles, but i doubt the findings would be much different.

Someone ask BWI about that unclaimed title in 1977. The one where they went 11-1, lost at home to Kentucky and finished one spot ahead of 10-1 Kentucky in the final AP poll.

I would say this is Alabama type claimed titles, but Bama legit tries to claim a title in a year where they finished 3rd in the SEC and #20 in the AP poll.
