Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

in regards to how they were cheated out of the NC in 1969:

On Thanksgiving Day, in Southwest Conference play, #1 Texas won at Texas A&M 49-12, while #2 Arkansas beat Texas Tech 33-0 in Little Rock. November 29 #3 Penn State which won at North Carolina State 33-8, had been considered for the Cotton Bowl Classic, where the Southwestern Conference champ (Texas or Arkansas) would go. Before Ohio State's loss, however, the players had voted to accept a bid to the Orange Bowl, because they preferred going to Miami instead of Dallas, even though the Nittany Lions went to the Orange Bowl the previous season and defeated Kansas 15-14.[4] Certain to move up to #2 regardless of how the Texas-Arkansas game came out, Penn State unexpectedly had passed up a chance to go up against the #1 team in the nation.[5]

December 6: #1 and #2 would not meet in a bowl, but faced off at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the final regular season game for both teams. Both unbeaten at 9-0-0, the #1 Texas Longhorns met their conference foe #2 Arkansas Razorbacks for a game that would determine the unofficial champion.

I think they have a narrative about Joe Pa not going to Texas because of some sort of civil rights protest

Classic JoePed. He chickened out from playing Texas but as loudly and publicly as possible turned it into Him being holier than the rest of college football. Said he wouldn't subject his black players to the racism in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl, so he took them to the racially cool location of Florida.....where they just happened to play a much weaker opponent than the Whorns. Classic JoePed. Every bresth that man took was just another con.

One year didn't JoePed say that he had commissioned his own poll....The Paterno Poll, and it voted Ped State number one, so he ordered national championship rings and had a big national championship ceremony to hand them out. I think that was 73.

Meanwhile, in a shower at the other end of the building, I'm sure his DC was probably having his own soap battle Championship celebration.

The only year the Penn State fans can bitch about is 1994 - perfect season with a Big Ten schedule and a Rose Bowl win. They were probably not the best team in 1994, but at least they have a legitimate argument. All their other claims (1947, 1968, 1969, 1973, 2005) are simply laughable.

2012 is the most laughable of the years on the Ring of Arbitrarily Recognized Years.

1947 is kind of laughable too. They went into the bowl ranked #5, and TIED #4 SMU. They have an "unclaimed NC" that year. Note that ND and scUM both went undefeated and finished 1 and 2. USC was number 3 and dropped after losing to both ND and scUM. Ped State finished #4 in the post bowl, "unofficial" AP, they remained behind the #3 SMU team they tied.

I'm sure the cult has managed to twist the whole debacle up in Minnesota into some warped example of how Joesus did nothing wrong.

EDIT: Went over there, and I was pretty shocked (didn't think the cult could shock anymore) as the sentiment is overwhelmingly pro player. It was a rush to judgement by radical feminists in the administration aided by an anti-football media. Needless to say, the obvious links to Joesus' persecution are discussed. So, BWI is firmly on team gang rape.

Of course they have a bunch of unclaimed titles. They aren't good enough to claim titles. Each year, Penn State is given a ticket. We'll say their ticket number is 409 (just to be completely random.) Now, this ticket is for a national championship. "Okay, Penn State, if you can make it through the regular season and then your bowl game and be the best team in the country, and NOT have anyone raped on your campus in the showers by football personnel, you can come and redeem your ticket and claim a national title."

Those titles all went unclaimed...
