Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

This is totally different than your typical "LOIC" case. It's 100% criminal, and was committed by a handful of morally bankrupt men. I don't think there's a need to create a "deterrent" because I cannot imagine there are that many monsters out there evil enough to cover something of this magnitude up like these lunatics did.

I don't know that the ncaa, necessarily, has any place here. However, I would like to see the B1G boot their sorry asses out, and accrediting agencies involved too. If the main concern is punishing those involved, and the blind cultists that worship Paterno, they'll be suitably punished. JoePa's legacy is already seriously tarnished, but I have a feeling once everything comes out, there will be no denying what he was. Even the mouth breathers defending him to the grim end will be faced with the truth. That will ruin them.

Unfortunately for Ped State, early word is that the Freeh report seems to indicate that there were NCAA violations, which may or may not give rise to a full blown colonoscopy by the NCAA, since it would be clear at that point that St. Joe and his puppets in the Ped State Administration concealed them from the NCAA. Who knows what kind of crap went on there. Now that we have concrete evidence that everyone affiliated with that shithole is a liar, the NCAA kind of has to take a look.

It wouldn't surprise me if it came out that Joe was in on a prostitution ring that Jerry started for which The Second Mile was a front.

I'm all in or all out on punishment...

I just don't think a USC style punishment is fair to the current coaches and players... so either close down the program for 4-5 years or don't do anything to the program. I'd lean towards the nuke approach though. I do think that wiping all of Joe Pa's wins from 2001- forward would hit the valley hard though  For all the blind support of Joe... how can they defend Joe letting that perv of an old man having open access to the football program after he "retired". Even if he did what was required by law (bs... sorry) how can they defend letting a child rapist having free use of there college? I am a huge homer when it comes to supporting my team... but god I would hope my friends would shot me and dump me in a river if I was so freaking blind to reality.

After Friday night?s explosive CNN report of an e-mail exchange between university president Graham Spanier, vice president Gary Schultz and athletic director Tim Curley, Paterno no longer looks like any of those things. If this is true, Paterno is forever a phony at best; the embodiment of Penn State?s evil at worst.

THEY ARE......DONE! Is there a petition to remove them from the BIG yet? Is there a morals clause that can come into play between the conference and a school? At what point can the BIG make a move to protect it's brand?

I don't get the sappy "well we can't punish everyone" bullshit I'm seeing in this thread.

Ped State has a CULTURE that is INBRED in that goddamn state. It needs to be eradicated. That CULTURE enabled this pederast to rape little boys for 20 or more years.

The INSTITUTION of Ped State needs to be burned to the ground, and the "city-state" that is Ped State football needs to be razed and salt put into the ground so nothing can grow there for a while.

Anything else is unsatisfactory given the KNOWN facts of the case.

Who cares about fair to the players and current coaches? Life ain't fair. Time to get over that line of argument.

Current coaches can get other jobs. Current players can transfer. Normal students can find something else to do on Saturdays in the Fall. The necessary actions should not be dictated by what makes these people's lives easiest. If some players who are only there because there's no NFL minor league have to transfer and some regular students can't go to football games for a few years, boo--fucking--hoo.

What happened at Ped Aggy is bigger than merely gaining a competitive advantage in football. That happens when a booster pays a recruit to sign a LOI or a coach engages in academic fraud to keep players eligible. What happened at Ped Aggy strikes at the very core of university governance and prioritization: the consequences of which was not a few more wins for Ped Aggy and a few NCAA rules broken towards that end but rather god knows now many young boys ass raped and their lives if not ruined then at least haunted for life. If SMU's program can be shut down because the board of trustees maintained a slush fund to pay players, what should the penalty be for a university whose top administrators actively conspired to enable and keep from the public the fact that a child rapist was using access to their program and facilities to sodomize young boys?

The football program needs to be shut down, and serious consideration needs to be given by the CIC and AAU towards dismissing Ped Aggy from membership.

If we used the "not fair to players and coaches to punish them for someone else's misdeeds" argument, then the NCAA would never hand out punishment. USC would have received no punishment. TOSU would have received no puishment for tatgate. Individual players couldn't even be suspended for their own actions. Their suspensions would hurt their teammates.

It appears it was common knowledge around PSU for decades that it was unsafe to drop a bar of soap in the shower if Sandusky was around. Do you think none of the current players or coaches knew that? Do you think the new coaches and recruits from last year hadn't at least heard part of what was going on in the investigation? Surely at least one of them had read a paper, turned on the news or logged onto the internet. Yet they chose to accept the job or the scholarship anyway. If they are good enough to play or coach at PSU, I imagine they would have gotten job or scholarship offers elsewhere, so it wasn't like they didn't have choices. They had choices. They chose to associate with Ped State. And if there are consequences (and I hope they are grave), then that goes along with the decisions they made. As Mike said, I don't recall anyone saying life was fair.

Football aside there is no doubt he transformed a farm college into a nation university.

Only Glorious Dear Leader Pa Joe Il could transform lowly farm college into best Nation University while winning many footballing matches. Glorious Dear Leader Pa Joe Il graduate one hundred fifty percent of footballers while never receiving ncaa investigations and still win many footballing matches. Glorious Dear Leader Pa Joe Il win Nations Championship many times and many times have Nations Championship stolen from him by corrupt, treacherous media, decadent President from Western Province or jealous footballing coaches from Largest Ten conference.

Glorious Dear Leader Pa Joe Il still brims in our hearts from oldest man in Valley who does not understand such things as electronic mail to youngest, smoothest boy in Valley.

Glorious Dear Leader Pa Joe Il who won many footballing matches!

If you refuse to penalize the football program for a cover up like this, then congratulations to everyone involved... you may be dead or in prison, but your evil lies worked.

Paterno's legacy is destroyed. The others are likely to go to prison. The program would be in a better state RIGHT NOW had they done the right thing from the beginning. Paterno could have maintained his reputation. The other guys, sans Sandusky, would be free and employed.

How did the lies work?

Except the institution and the city-state of Ped State will still be a functioning concern. They will have protected Carthage.
