Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

and I thought it's blown out of proportion because we all like to laugh at ped state fans, but holy [Mark May] they really think the refs are screwing them. They think the whole big ten is out to get them. This is sad.

Yeah. What's REALLY sad is that some of them believe that Sandusky is innocent. They HAVE to believe that, because for as long as Sandusky is a child molester, the public will see Joe Paterno as a molester-enabler.

http://bwi.forums.rivals.com/thread...paterno-and-dave-jones-on-worldwide-tv.29193/

by ripping on Sandusky he fails to recognize that as long as Sandusky sits in jail falsely accused, JoePa will never be free, Penn State will never be free, and I will never be free.

Sure, some argue this point in that thread. But he doesn't care.

Nittany, you really think JS is 100% innocent?
I've heard rumors that people like you existed, but I never actually believed it. Seek help.

His response:

We, Penn State, ain't getting free from any of this as long as Sandusky rots in hell. We rot with him. It is what it is, so get on the stick, get quick and get a new trial. You are the victim not Aaron Fisher.

One of Joesus' mist fundamental teachings was always WE ARE....THE VICTIMS! It started in 1968 when the pollsters robbed him of a NC. It continued through every season on the ring of very good seasons. It culminated in the Big Ten when he constantly whined about the refs and all the holding calls they were ignoring. And now it continues after him. Joesus Book 1; Chapter 1; Verse 3. WE ARE......THE VICTIMS!

I think one of my favorite chapters is the one where they refused to play someone for the national championship - 1969 maybe? Maybe Texas? Anyway, the way I hear it, Joesus could have taken his team somewhere to play against Texas for the national championship. Ohio State just lost to Michigan, so #1 was up for grabs. Joesus instead went to another bowl and beat another team. Funny already. But my FAVORITE part of this story is how the president of the United States crowned Texas the national champions. You made your own bed, Joesus. In the thrilling conclusion to the story, Joesus would later tell Nixon to "shove it" when Nixon called to congratulate him on a good season. (Does anyone actually believe that Paterno really said that?)

That was 1969, when Penn St. opted to go to the Orange Bowl to play Missouri rather than go to the Cotton Bowl to take on No. 1 Texas. At the time the bowl bids were accepted, Penn St. was No. 3 behind Texas and Ohio St. Ohio St. losing to Michigan moved the Pedsters up to No. 2, but they had already accepted an invitation from the Orange Bowl. Supposedly, the PSU players voted against going to Dallas because of the racial atmosphere in Dallas at the time and the John Birch Society being headquartered there.

Texas won the Cotton Bowl and Nixon declared them national champions. The entire, 45-year saga of Pedster whining about 1969 was chronicled in the ESPN 30 for 30 "Nixon's National Champs." Obviously, it was incredibly short-sighted of the Pedsters not to go to the Cotton Bowl if there was any chance they could be playing for a national championship. But 1969 is where "The World is Out to Get Us" seeds were sewn with Paterno and PSU. Nixon declaring Texas national champions was what prompted the victimized Joesus to wonder several years later, "How could [Nixon] supposedly know so much about college football and so little about Watergate?"

I am sure this is a generational thing, but much of the bitching about the Pedsters getting screwed out of the 1969 national championship has since been replaced by crying over 1994 and the Big 10 having to put the Pedsters in their place for coming in and dominating the way they did.

His response:

What is interesting about that thread is that Mike McQueary's own brother (psudukie) has several posts that dismiss two key things the cult has long been hanging onto since 2011:
  1. The belief that JoePed was not in the right mental shape to testify at the GJ proceedings
  2. That Mike Mcquerey influenced or refreshed Paterno's memory right before the GJ testimony and interviews with detectives leading up to that
Anyone that has seen the interviews with JoePed that ESPN did in 2008 over the Vicky Triponey stuff has seen that he was clearly of his own thinking and not at all feeble or out of his mind

I usually like reading what psudukie has to say. For how much shit the Cult slings at him, he seems relatively rational and civil. Obviously, he is not going to throw his brother under the bus. But psudukie has long voiced on both Audibles and BWI that his brother was the one telling the truth and some things will come out at trial that shatters some widely-held beliefs of BWI and (to a leser extent) Audibles.

This is in no way whatsoever defending Joesus' horrid moral failing in light of the Sandusky atrocities. But I do think Joesus had some sort of stroke or mental episode around 2009. Even before the scandal broke, his press conferences the last two years were absolute trainwrecks with him being unable to remember player names or, at times, even who PSU was playing the following week. IMO, Joesus declined severely cognitively the last two years or so of his life. Sometimes, in his interviews or press conferences, he would ramble into stories about players or games from 30 years ago. Even before the scandal hit, there was speculation on BWI and Audibles in 2010-11 that Joesus had suffered a mild stroke.

The TIA mini-strokes were alleged to have occurred sometime in mid 2010. It really came to a head at their senior banquet where he was quoted as having said things such as "Thanksgiving Day bowl game" and "I've got to go play my old friend Steve Spurrier," ahead of the Outback Bowl against Urban's Gators.

His short term memory was clearly failing and he frequently rambled. It was also reported that he was no longer driving himself anywhere.

Of course, PSU fans were sure Tony Dungy was lined up to take the job.

Which really makes me wonder......How could Joesus know so much about what went on in his football program, but so little about Sandusky?

That's still a decade of not following up on his "all that was legally required" report to his superiors about child rape as Sandusky continued to run around Penn State football facilities and games with children.

Then again, why would you follow up on it when you're the one who dictated that nothing be done about it... I'm just trying to work within the cult's version to show that Paterno was a disgrace even within the best case scenario narrative.

The really funny thing is that Joesus couldn't just let people think he dodged the tougher opponent. Oh no, not our Joesus. He said that he refused to play Texas because he wouldn't take his black players to Dallas (Cotton Bowl) despite having played in Texas before and sending them to racially enlightened Florida instead. That was Joesus: not only a coward but a coward who shamelessly tried to spin his cowardice into some kind of moral superiority.
